Kansas Fact of the Month
Labor Day. It's not only the unofficial last day of summer, it's a celebration of American workers. In 2007, Kansas' unemployment rate was 4.1%, better than the national rate of 4.6% (Bureau of Economic Analysis, 2008). An average of 1,111,718 Kansans were employed in the private sector in 2007. Those workers earned an average annual wage of $37,572. The sectors employing the most Kansans were manufacturing, healthcare and social assistance, and retail trade(Kansas Department of Labor, 2008).
