Looking for descendants of Mary Teresa Dever and Samuel Jewett. They were married in Burlington in the late 1880s. Lived on a farm outside Waverly. Children were Albert Pomeroy, Charles A., Mabel Louise Anna (Coffman), Isabel Irene (Randall), Frederick Thomas. Siblings of Samuel Jewett (Perry and Fred) may also have lived in the area. After Samuel Jewett's death in 1902, Mary Teresa married Sylvanus Roberds with whom she had a daughter, Florence (Nora) (Johnson).
My g-grandmother's obituary says that she was "converted at about 13 years of age, and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in Burlington, KS". As she was born in 1858, this would place the family in Burlington about 1870 or 1871, perhaps as early as 1869.
Can you help me locate someone with records of that church, as there must have been some listing. Mary Jane Wanamaker, born in Crawfordsville, Indiana, August 29, 1858. Her parents were Nicholas Wanamaker and Francis Beiter (also spelled Bituer, Bitter, or Bieter). Any direction at all would be much appreciated.

I have located Albin Saunders in the 1860 Avon, Coffey Co., Kansas census and know that he passed away in 1864 in Avon, Coffey Co. I can't locate Avon on any map. Was it absorbed by another community? How would I go about determining what cemetery Albin is buried in? There appear to be 35 cemeteries in Coffey Co. If it helps any, Albin may have been associated with the Seventh-day Baptist Church.

Seeking info on James Grimes of Vermont and New Hampshire who settled in Avon Township, Coffey Co., Kansas in 1856; and died before 1865. He adopted Emma Eliza Bixby, a nine year old orphan, in 1854; and brought her to Kansas.
Avon was a farming community about eight miles down the Neosho River from Burlington, Coffey County, Kansas. According to my great-great grandmother, who lived there; most of the settlers arrived with the original "Hampden Colony" in 1856. It was never really a town, but was definitely a "community". The 1860 and 1865 census reports showed "Avon township". I think the Avon community became a part of the town of Leroy.
I am trying to find some records of my paternal grandmother. Her name was (birth) Jessie Elizabeth Davidson. Married name, Rhoades. She was born in Burlington, KS on October 14, 1879.
