I am desperately seeking info about the death and burial of a William Thomas Bereman. His wife died in circa1890 and is buried in Leroy cemetary. He probably died sometime after 1905. I can't seem to find any info about him. I don't know if any funeral home records would exist. If you could help in any way please let me know. Sincerely, Lynn Bereman.

I am trying to find information on any relatives of S. S. Prouty, his wife, Hannah Whitehead Prouty, or his children. He had 8 children, all daughters except Franklin Greeley, who was born May 29, 1861.

S. S. Prouty was born in New York, came to Kansas and was a well known printer, was an editor in Burlington. He died in Topeka in 1888 or 1889, I believe Hannah died in the early 1900's. One of his daughters was living in Minesota around 1955-56.

Salmon Prouty was my Grandfather's cousin. I am trying to find the connecting relative back in Onondaga Co. New York. Salmon S. Prouty was born in Van Buren, N.Y., July 31, 1825.

I would like to find out where Salmon is buried and where his wife is buried.

I am looking for Hannah Moore's mother and father. Hannah Moore was born 1875 and passed away in 1947 in OK. She married a William Casper Pierce. They had some children: Don, Pauline, Margaret, Grace. Most of the children were born in Mt. Hope, Kansas.

[Note: Cora Lougal was the maiden name of Vera Pearl Wood's mother. Vera died 21 Jan 2001. Vera's obituary from the Coffey County Republican: "She is survived by: a nephew, Melvin Henley, Vassar; and a niece-in-law, Irma Henley, LeRoy. She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother." I don't know if these are maternal or paternal relatives, but I would start with them. kjh]

Rebecca Grace (Courtner) Morrris, died in 1914 in Ashland, Jackson Co. OR. I have her death record and the cemetery and the funeral home records. George Washington Morris, remarried a second time and according to the son Clarence's obituary, George was still alive in 1953 and living in Covina, CA. I checked the California Index, there is a George W. Morris born 1869 in Kansas and died in 1957, he maybe the one. I will send off for a death record and maybe his parents names will show on the record.

Now I have to find out about Robert Morris who is the father of George Washington Morris. I have the 1870 and 1880 Coffey and Osage co. KS census records on cd-roms.

The Jackson Co. Oregon Historical and Genealogical society are busy helping me with the Morris group. When everything is in place I will forward a copy to the Coffey Co. Kansas Historical society.

Felix M. Tritt was my g-uncle and is buried in the Tritt Cemetery in Logan County AR. He and brother Clark married sisters to my g-grandfather, Hustus Humphrey, all were born in TN. Clark, Felix and my g-grandfather, Ira, with the rest of the family, John and Polly, moved to MO in 1843 and on to Kansas in about 1850. I do need help in locating information about them.

Hi there! Anna Wilhelm suggested that I e-mail about my Larues. I am looking information on Andy and Agnes Larue' and their children Jennie and Ed. Andy was born in Virginia, AgnesI and children were born in Parke County Indiana. I received some data from another researcher that claims that Andy was buried in Glendale Cemetary in Coffey County. I also have three letters written in 1905 to my grandmother from them. (Agnes is my ggreat aunt on my grandmothers side.) It was from Halls Summit Kansas. It stated that they had a farm near there and that Jennie was working in the local store. Any information that you can give me would be most appreciated.

Tracy Norton, b-June 7, 1834; bp-Wayne County Penna. Moved to KS in 1850 with his parents, Samuel and Jurusha. Tracy Norton married Mariam Willfoung, b-May 23, 1840 d-Feb 3, 1862; they had one child Mary Anna Norton b-1862. Tracy married sister of first wife, Lucy Ann Willfoung b-Feb 13, 1846. Tracy was in the Union army from KS. He only spent 100 days, discharged Nov. 15, 1864. Married date March 23, 1865. They had 7 children, 4 born in KS, 3 born in Iowa. Lucy's parents names were William Willfoung and Miss Branson.

I've found my grandfather's brother, Frank J. Merrill, buried at LeRoy Cemetery, approx Jun 5, 1899. I am wondering if there is a local newspaper, at that time, that may have captured the cause of his death. I have a very old picture of him with his parents -- who later moved into Woodson County. The inscription on the picture says Frank was killed in June 1899.

Any help appreciated. Any other information about the Merrill Family (specifically: Israel Merrill & Sara Bibee Merrill, along with their sons: William, Danial, Jessie, Charles & Ira appreciated.).

I found the obit. of Rene Napier who died Aug. 15, 1886 on the web site. I am trying to find the obit or the date and place of buriel for his daughter Jane Grant who died not to long before him according to his obit. (She was my greatgrandmother) Her full name was Frances Jane Napier Grant and she was married to William Shields Grant (he died in 1919 and is buried in the Bronson Cemetery. My dad (her grandson) swears she is buried with her daughter in the LeRoy cemetery but I have not been able to find either of their graves. I assume Rene Napier was buried in the Leroy Cemetery also but I can't find his grave and no trace of his wife Elisabeth Stuart Napier's death or buriel place. The Son John W. Napier and wife Sarah (sadie) and their two childern, Rene and a baby girl are buried in the Bronson, Ks. cemetery along with Jane and Williams, son George Wright Grant and his wife LeeDonia Osborn Grant.

Rene and Elizabeth Napier two other daughters, lucinda Napier who married isaac thomas lineback and is buried in Colony, Ks. Minerva Napier (I can't seem to put my finger on her married name. If you can help I would appreciate it or if you can tell me where or who to go to to help.

Searching for information about the family of Michael DOHERTY and his wife, Hannah Marilla HOLDREN. They moved from Miami Co, Kansas after 1880 census to Coffey Co, Kansas before the 1900 census. Their children were:

1) Thomas Doherty, born about 1867

2) Elizabeth Doherty, born about 1869

3) William Doherty, born about 1871

4) Mary Doherty, born about 1874

5) Charles Doherty, born about 1876

6) Michael Doherty, born about 1878

7) Annie Doherty, March 1879

8) Maggie Doherty, July 1884

Michael and his siblings (Edward, Martin, Thomas, John and Anna) came from County Roscommon, Ireland before 1860. They were members of the Catholic Church while in Miami Co, Kansas.

Can anyone help me with this family? I would love to share information.

HART/KIDWELL Coffey Co. KS Searching for information on John Preston HART who came to KS either to Coffey or Franklin Co. KS. His children were Laura G, Mercy Elizabeth, David V., and Harriet C. It is probable that all were married except possibly Harriet. John P. HART is buried in the Old Waverly Cemetery in block 12. We know he married Margaret Ann Brown in 1876 in KS. It is possible she was his 3rd wife. Mercy Elizabeth married George Washington KIDWELL in OH in 1868. They moved to the Coffey/Franklin area from OH. Mercy marries in 1907 to John BRADY. Would like to exchange info.

I'm wondering if one of those obits in the "crashed" file could be my ancestor, Job Hulse/Hultz. He was born 1835, married 1870 to Heste-Ann Matilda Ivey. They had 7 children. I believe he might have died between 1904 and 1900, maybe closer to 1900, because on the 1900 Census for Potowatomie twp of Coffee Co. his wife said she had been married 30 years. The date of the census was June 8, 1900, so I'm guessing he had just died.

Is there a funeral home in LeRoy, Ks and if there ever was do you know who might have the records dating back to between 1881 to 1895? Was there ever a funeral home in Aliceville?

I am trying to find out when my greatgrandmother died and where she is buried. Also, she had a daughter that died during this time frame I think. My greatgrandmother's name was Frances Jane Napier Grant and she went by Jane. I was told that her and my greatgrandfather lived in or around Aliceville. His name was William Shields Grant. I know that Jane's parents lived in Leroy and that she had a brother John that lived there. This is about all I know other than she died at a fairly young age and William remarried had a couple more children and then they were divorced.

You have Rene Napier's Obit listed. He is Jane Grant's father.
