The Douglas County Genealogical Society is a non-profit organization organized in 1976. Meetings are held at intervals and announced in the Lawrence Journal World. Membership fees are $15 per year, plus $2.00 for each additional household member.Include your full address. Include the Surnames you are searching. Home Phone number and  Maiden name are optional.
 Checks should be made payable to the Douglas County Kansas Genealogical Society (DCKGS) and sent to the address above.  The fiscal and membership year is from January 1 to December 31. Visitors are always welcome.

Genealogical Information In Newspapers Of Lawrence, Douglas County, Kansas: Index For 1873-1881.

This 115-page book contains 5,500 index entries for Lawrence daily newspapers of March 1873 through August 1881.
Each indexed item contains one or more pieces of useful information for genealogical research, such as names of relatives,
married women's maiden names, birth, marriage, or death information, places of residence before moving to to Douglas County,
or residence after leaving Douglas County. DCGS will, for a small fee, make copies of original articles from the microfilms.
Copies of the book are wire-bound with a plastic cover.

The society genealogist will attempt to answer Douglas County research.
