The Johnson County Archives also has a thorough selection of newspapers on microfilm available for review at their office.

Miscellaneous bits of info concerning newspapers not mentioned in the index above:

• The 1874 Johnson County Atlas mentions in the James Wilson Biographical Sketch on p. 58 that Mr. Wilson began the newspaper "Western Progress" in 1872, continuing to publish said newspaper throught the time of that writing, to wit, 1874. The KSHS only has 1875-1880. Unless there is another source for which I am unaware, it appears that several years of this newspaper has been lost. If anyone knows of a source for this lost newspaper, please tell me.
