During the early 1900's (about 1914 or so?)my 2 uncles, Asa (Uncle "Ace"}Clinkenbeard and his older brother, Edward (Uncle "Ed"} Clinkenbeard owned a grocery or 'general' store in Leavenworth County (Easton, I believe). I have a picture of them at work in their store. I have heard that there was a chain of Clinkenbeard stores in Kansas and Missouri. Am looking to find information on the Munsee Indians living in Leavenworth County, KS, I believe with the Delaware Nation, between about 1837 and 1859, at which the Munsees removed and joined the Chippewas in Franklin County, KS. I have ancestors amond those Munsees. Particularly interested in knowing where I can access the Moravian Mission church records for that time period. Individuals I need information on are Theodora CALEB (Munsee), CALEB(don't know first name, husband of Theodora, likely a Munsee or half Munsee), Reazen WILCOXON and Tom Eliot/Elliot/ELLIOTT (both white men who were Indian traders) and especially, anyone with the surname PLAKE.

I am seeking information about my great-grandfather, James Monroe Williams. He served as a captain in the 5th Kansas Cavalry in the Civil War. Mustered out to be commissioned as a colonel in command of the 1st Kansas Colored Infantry. Later breveted to Brigadier General, commanding multiple units in engagements in Oklahoma and Arkansas. I am interested in information about his whereabouts prior to his actual entry into the Army - where he lived, what he did, etc.

Rose McKee was a distant cousin of mine, born and raised in Leavenworth. She worked for Benguet Mines in the Philippines and was taken prisoner there by the Japanese during WW II. She was held at the infamous Santo Tomas Prison in Manila during the war and emerged, very frail, in 1945 and returned to Leavenworth where she lived until her death in 1971 (?) Did she leave any memoir/letters of her time in Santo Tomas?

I am looking for information regarding my paternal grandfather. We know little of him since he died when my father was an infant. We know that he was in Leavenworth, Kansas sometime during the late 1800's. We believe that he may have gotten married the first time there and had a daughter named Virginia. However, we do not know the name of his first spouse. Would it be possible to check marriage records for a Joseph M. Bevo from 1880-1900 and see if any information can be found. He later moved to Los Angeles where he married my fathers mother in or around 1913 and died several years later. Any information would be most helpful.

I have a lot of information on each of the above families and would love to share it with anyone who is interested!

William H. P. Bristow brought his family from Boone Co., Indiana to the town of Easton, in Leavenworth Co., ca. 1855; he owned and operated the first grocery store in Easton. There were only two houses between Easton and Leavenworth at that time. Robert Thompson and Lance Woodward brought their families to the Easton area, from Platte Co., Missouri, before 1860. The Cummings, Hasty, and Stevens family came to the Easton area from Rockcastle/Pulaski Counties, Kentucky in the late 1800's.

Looking for information on Judson W. ASHLEY, listed in the 1910 census as a soldier of the Hospital Corp., Leavenworth Military Reservation. He was born in Illinois in 1869. His father was William D. Ashley from Kentucky. That's all I know about him. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

Trying to locate Fall Leaf cemetery. Some sources indicate that Richard Emory Petherbridge, a resident of the Jarbalo/Boling area was buried there in 1895. I have found a Fall Creek cemetery near Jarbalo, and a Fall Leaf community west of Linwood, both of which I intend to pursue. A knowledge of the townships, for Jarbalo and Linwood/Fall Leaf might help.

I am looking for the burial place of Mary Ann (Hoyt) Wilber/Wilbur.

Mary Ann Wilber b. 18 Aug 1838, MO d. 8 May 1881 supposedly in Jefferson Co., KS. She last appeared on the 1880 census in Union Township, Jefferson Co., KS Household 53/56 as M.A. Wilber wife of S. Wilber

I have been told that this townsip borders Leavenworth Co. and that she may be buried there.

I am looking for information relating to the surname SCHWECHTEN. A surviving family letter to my grandfather states:

"Uncle Fritz Schwechten was dead. He died 7/13/05 in Leavenworth Hospital, Leavenworth County, Kansas, with cancer of the stomach. Fritz's son, Otto Schwechten, was in Chicago and didn't make arrangements for or come to his father's funeral. Emma, author of the letter, commented that she had written Aunt Fredrieka [Schwechten ?] Rabe about Fritz's death. Fredrika had already heard from Mrs. Maily that Fritz was dead."
