The First United Methodist Church of Leavenworth, Kansas lists the following:
Elizabeth Posegate, age 50, born about 1810 in New Jersey, lived with Charles Posegate, age 26, a printer, and Almira Posegate, age 15. She was the widow of Isaac Posegate, who in 1850 was a gunsmith in Weston, MO.
Actually Elizabeth Posegate and Isaac F. Posegate, who was a gunsmith, were divorced in Boonville, MO in 1858.
I am interested in any additional information about Elizabeth or her three children who spent time in Leavenworth, Kansas.

Winfield Scott Posegate (4th son, a gunsmith, served in 8th Kansas buried in Ft. Leavenworth, Ntl. Cem.)

I'm looking for the obituary or death date of the grandaughter of my great great grandfather Jacob Hoch. Her name was Rofena Meyer. Her parents, William and Mary Meyer, lived in Leavenworth County and Leavenworth City for over 50 years beginning in the 1860s. She married a man by the name of James Dye and lived some of her married life in Leavenworth and also in Platte County and Weston, Missouri. Don't know if she died there or in Leavenworth. Any help would be appreciated.

I am looking for Elizabeth Ewing Chappelear. According to my research Family moved as William Woods Chappelear, supported the family as a “roving fiddling cobbler” traveling in a covered wagon from Ohio in 1850 to Platte, Co, MO, New Market and Camden Point in 1850’s. William W was against slavery, warned to leave Missouri and Platte Co. In 1859, he fled after a shot is fired over his bed. After crossing the cold Missouri in the covered wagon, from Missouri to Kansas where in Easton, Elizabeth caught pneumonia and died later in the year, according to Mary E Glessner, on Nov 17 and was buried on a hill over the town of Easton. Burial record for Elizabeth Ewing Chappelear, D Nov 17, 1859. Buried Easton, KS. I visited a hill with unmarked graves in 1984 and am returning to KC Sept 12 -17. Please send back email or phone me 612 281 5230

I thought that Emma Ewing b 1865 in Leavenworth was the dtr of Francis Goode and Robert M. Ewing. But I found Emma Ewing as a 3 month old in Leavenworth in 1865 state census living w/ Charles Ewing and "Mrs". Does anyone have any access to marriage records for surrounding counties? I checked w/Leavenworth, they have no record of this marriage. Francis' obit stated she was married to Robert M. Ewing and gives a date that is 3 mos after he marries Mary Farley???

Is anyone doing research on the name "Edmonds"? I have reason to believe (but no evidence) that my ancestors came from the Leavenworth area. My ancestry picks up in the Neosho, Granby, MO area but there are several references to Leavenworth.
