Obituary with surnames BUCHANAN, PARKER submitted by J Richardson. Date of death Friday, February 15, 1935

Samuel T. Buchanan, 60, life-long Leavenworth county resident and former superintendent of the old prison farm at the main federal penitentiary, died early this morning at his home, 407 Pennsylvania avenue.

Mr. Buchanan was the sone of the late Joseph Buchanan, former pioneer Kickapoo resident. He was born at Kickapoo, April 24, 1874.

He was a member of the Kickapoo Methodist church, the Modern Woodmen of America and of the american Federation of Federal Employes. He had been employed for the past few years in the quartermaster Corps, Ft. Leavenworth.

Surviving are on sister, Mary Parker, and one brother, Harry Buchanan, both of the home. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The body will lie in state at Bush and sons funeral home until saturday night at 6:30 o'clock when it will be taken to the resident to lie in state until funeral services are held at the home Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Chaplain James W. Reed will officiate. Interment will be in Kickapoo cemetery.

The death of Marion Ellis, late K Company, First Regiment, Missouri State Militia Cavalry, a veteran of the civil war, occurred in the hospital yesterday morning. Mr. Ellis was ninety years of age and had been a member of the Home since 1912. His relatives have been notified and unless other arrangements are made the funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Protestant chapel. Chaplain A.P. Janes will officiate and burial will be in the Home cemetery.

F.C. BUTZIN DIES AT HOME OF SON

A Resident of Leavenworth County for Fifty Years--Funeral Services Monday

FREDERICK CAL BUTZIN, 77, a native of Germany and Leavenworth county resident for half a century, died at 3:30 o'clock this morning, March 1, 1935, at the home of his son, Frank W. Butzin, 554 Marion street.

Born January 13, 1858 at Arnawalde, Germany. Mr. Butzin came to Leavenworth in 1883. He farmed in Easton Township for a number of years before retiring and moved his residence to Leavenworth, where he operated a shoe repairing shop at 505 Cherokee street.

For several years Mr. Butzin jointly occupied the building with a printing shop and through his business affairs became widely known throughout the city and county.

He became ill Tuesday while at work and was taken to the home of his son. His wife, Mrs. Amelia Butzin, died four years ago.

Surviving are three daughters Mrs. Otto Korth, 923 Pawnee street; Mrs. Francis Wait, 704 Oak street; and Mrs. Raymond Tuttle, 1136 Ironmoulder Avenue; two sons, Frank W. Butzin, at whose home he died; Frederich W. Butzin, 1134 Ironmoulder Avenue; fifteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Private funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 3:30 o:clock at at the home of his son, Frank Butzin 554 Marion Street. Interment will be on the family lot in Mount Muncie Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Sexton Funeral Chapel until Sunday morning when it will be taken to the home of the son.

Life-Long Resident Dies.

Mrs. Anna M. Tuttle, 43, 1136 Ironmoulders Avenue, a life-long Leavenworth resident, died last night at 7 o'clock at her home. She had been ill several months.
She was born in Leavenworth October 21, 1891 and was married to Raymond Tuttle here September 6 1910. she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Butzin.
Surviving are the husband, two daughters, Miss Dorothy Tuttle of the home; Mrs. David Reed, city; one son, Raymond Tuttle, Jr., of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Otto Korth and Mrs. F. E. Wait, two brothers, Frank Butzin and William Butzin, two grandchildren, Jeannie Reed and David Reed, Jr., all of Leavenworth.
Funeral services are to be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Sexton Funeral chapel. Christian Science services are to be conducted. Interment will be on the family lot in Mount Muncie Cemetery.

Funeral services for Daniel M. Swan, son of Daniel Swan, pioneer banker, lawyer and insurance man of Leavenworth, who died yesterday at St. Luke's hospital in Kansas City, Mo., will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday at the Lindsay Chapel, with interment on the family lot at Mt. Muncie cemetery, here.

Mr. Swan was the last of three Kansas City young men who went to Alaska in 1896 on a gold hunt, and dared the dangers of the Klondike and the Chilkoot Pass. The three adventurers escaped one tragedy shortly after their arrival but witnessed a second, when an avalanche of snow and ice swept down from the mountainside, burying men and women beneath it. They were camped near the pass at the time, but were out of danger. They joined the volunteer rescuers and helped take scores of persons out of the mass alive. About one hundred persons died.

On his return to kansas City, Mr. Swan became a broker. In 1912 he went to St. Paul Minn., returning to Kansas City five years later.

Mr. Swan was born in Leavenworth 60 years ago. He is survived by his widow, a daughter both of Kansas City; a brother in Kansas City and a sister in Jefferson City.

Mrs. Ella Nichols Collins, 59, colored, wife of Sergt. Daniel Collins, died early today at her home 1020 Washington Street. She had been a life-long resident of Leavenworth and was educated in the local public schools. The husband is the only immediate survivor. The body is at the Nutter undertaking parlors pending funeral arrangements.

30-Jun-1935 - Funeral services for Mrs. Ella Collins will be held Monday afternoon at one o'clock. Rev. C.H. Bratton of the First Baptist church will officiate. The body will be take to the home Sunday morning. Burial will be at National cemetery, Fort Leavenworth.

Miss Alice carroll, 65, 825 Delaware street, died late yesterday at a Topeka hospital. She had been ill several months.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Carroll, pioneer Leavenworth residents, Miss Carroll was a native and life-long resident of the city. She was employed for many years by the L.V. O'Kane confectionery. There are no immediate survivors.

Funeral services are to be held Friday morning at 9:15 o'clock at the Cathedral. The Rev. Fr. Robert Salmon, O.S.B., will officiate. Interment will be on the family lot in Mt. Calvary cemetery.

Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. C.H. Bratton Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Nutter funeral parlors for Mrs. Daisy Harris, 61, colored, who died Thursday. Burial will be in Mt. Muncie Cemetery. A sister, Mrs. Elilzabeth Brown, of Leavenworth, and a brother, James Buchanan, of Kansas Citiy, Mo., survive.

John Anderson, about 48, a veteran of the World war, died yesterday morning at 6:20 o'clock at the Veterans' Administration Home hospital. His home was in Kansas City, Mo., where the body was taken for funeral services.
