Taken from the Leavenworth Times 7-5-1946 by Sue Rush. Charles T. Hill and Gerald Ray Hill were father and son. Killed in a plane crash on 7/4/1946.

Charles T. Hill was born April 8, 1906, at Bourbon, Ky., a son of Elzie and Cora Hill. A former resident of Leavenworth. Mr. Hill was an employee of the Dresser Sand Company here until moving to the Dearborn area four months ago.

He was a member of the Christian church at Smithville, Mo., and on March 17, 1923, he was married to Miss Elsie F. Huntsman at Platte City, Mo.

Mr. Hill is survived by his widow of the home; four daughters, Cora Lee Hill, Ruth Marie Hill, Rosalie Hill and Betty Jean Hill, all of the home: five sons, Alvah Hill, Jack Hill, Jim, Joe Hill, all of the home; Charles H. Hill, 910 Shawnee street: his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elzie Hill, Kansas City, Mo.; three brothers, Lawrence Hill, Dekalb Mo.; Neal Hill, Kansas City, Mo.; Alvah Hill, of California; and eight sisters., Mrs. Jim Hunt, Mrs. Mary Crump, both of Tracy, Mo.; Miss Cora Hill, Miss Mildred Hill, Mrs. Leonard Almon, Miss Dela Hill all of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Russell Ogden, Dekalb, Mo.; and Mrs. Hazel Riddle, Tracy, Mo.

The funeral services will be held at the funeral church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Chaplain F. R. Beery of Wadsworth will officate. Burial will be in Mount Muncie cemetery. The bodies will remain at the funeral church until taken to the cemetery.

Double Funeral Saturday

Gerald Ray Hill was born July 27, 1925, at Smithville, Mo. He came to Leavenworth with his parents in 1937 from Greenwood, Mo. He was a member of the 1943 graduating class at Leavenworth Senior high school.

The young man enlisted for service in the Air Corps at Fort Leavenworth on May 20, 1943. He was separated from service as a second lieutenant April 14, 1945. Since becoming an employee at the Kramer Company, he had made his home with a brother, Charles Hill, 910 Shawnee street. He was not married.

Both bodies were taken from the accident scene to the Davis funeral church.

Double funeral services will be held at the funeral church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Chaplain F. R. Beery of Wadsworth will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Muncie cemetery. The bodies will remain at the funeral church until taken to the cemetery.

MRS. CHOICE SCHONHERR DIES JANUARY 4, 1947 AT THE AGE OF 59

Mrs. Choice Schonherr, 59, 521 North Fourth street, a resident of Leavenworth the past 40 years, died at her residence at 2:40 o'clock Saturday afternoon following an illness of several months. She had been in a serious condition the past several days.

She was born in Flagler, Ia., November 28, 1887, and she was a daughter of John and Mary Jane Morgan, pioneers of Iowa. She came to Leavenworth from Flagler in 1906 and this since had been her home. She was a member of the Methodist church.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Mary Mays, Beverly, Mo., one sister, Mrs. Annie Thomas, home address; one brother, John Morgan West, Des Moines, Ia.; seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 o'clock at the Sexton funeral chapel with the Rev. J. B. Vernon, retired pastor officiating. Burial will be in Mount Muncie cemetery. The body will remain at the chapel until the hour of services.

Death Comes Here To Theresa Forge

Widow of Herman Forge ILL For 9 Months--Funeral Tuesday at St. Joseph's.

Theresa B. Forge, 72, a resident of Leavenworth County for the past 60 years, and widow of the late Herman J. Forge, died last night at 6:45 o'clock at her home at 775 Miami street after and illness of nine months.

She had been in failing health for some time. Mrs. Forge was born August 7, 1874, in Louisville, Ky., a daughter of Joseph and Josephine Heim.

She came to Leavenworth when but 12 years old. On May 7, 1895 at the St. Joseph's church in Leavenworth she was married to Herman J. Forge. Mr. Forge died April 22, 1934.

Mrs. Forge was a member of St. Joseph's church, St. Joseph's Altar society and the Third Order of Mount Carmel.

Two Rosaries Tomorrow.

She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. James Duffin of Hutchinson; Mrs. George Bertels of Nortonville; Mrs. Walter Bollin of Garnett; and Mrs. William McGlinn, 1013 North Thirteenth street; three sons, Herman J. Forge, 819 Kickapoo street; Edward Forge of Rural route four, Leavenworth; and Andrew Forge 301 Maple avenue; two sisters, Mrs. John Noll, 778 Miami street and Mrs. George Hund of Wichita, Falls, Tex; a brother, Charles Heim, Sixth and Pottawatomie streets; 25 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Joseph's church, the Rev. Fr. Herman Golobic, O. Carm, officiating. Interment will be in Mount Calvary cemetery.

The body will be removed fro the O'Donnell funeral chapel to the home of Miami street early Sunday afternoon. Members of the Third Order of Mt. Carmel will assemble at 7:30 o'clock Monday night for the recitation of the rosary. Members of St. Joseph's Altar society, St. Joseph's Benevolent society, the Knights of Columbus and friends will assemble at the home at 8 o'clock Monday evening for the rosary. The body will remain at the home until time for services.

Henry Gercken Dies Suddenly Early Today.

He Was 51 and Native of Germany; Funeral Will Be Wednesday at 10

Henry A. Gercken, Sr., 51, operator of the Gercken Motor Company, 630 Shawnee street, died suddenly this morning at St. John's hospital. He became ill about 5 this morning and died several hours later.

Mr. Gercken was born October 2, 1895, at Calcar, Germany, son of Albert and Elizabeth Gercken. He came to Leavenworth with his parents at the age of five. He had made his home here ever since.

On May 29, 1917, at St. Joseph's church he was married to Theresa Kern. He was a member of St. Joseph's church.

He is survived by his widow., Mrs. Theresa Gercken of the home, 830 1/2 Shawnee street; two daughters, Mrs. Luke Diabal of Independence, Mo.; Lorraine Gercken of the home; one son, Henry a. Gercken, Jr. 775 Kickapoo street; three sisters, Mrs. Joseph Wager, Sr., 617 North Eighth street; Mrs. Edward Doerly of Kansas City, Kas.; Mrs. William Remmert; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Joseph's church, the Rev Fr. Herman Golobic, pastor officiating. Interment will be in the family lot in Mount Calvary cemetery.

Members of the Daughters of Isabell will assemble at 7:30 o'clock Tuesday night at the O'Donnell funeral chapel for recitation of the rosary. Friends and members of the St. Joseph's Altar society will assemble Tuesday night at the chapel at 8 o'clock for a rosary service. The body will remain at the chapel until time of services.

Attack is Fatal to Matilda Fink

43 year-Old County Native In Sudden Death Early This Morning at Home.

Matilda M. Fink, 43, of rural route one, city and a lifetime resident of Leavenworth County, died early this morning at her home as the result of a heart attack.

She was born January 21, 1904, in Leavenworth County, a daughter of Michael and Margaret Gates. On April 27, 1929, at St Joseph's of the Valley church she was married to Aloysius Fink.

Mrs. Fink was a member of St. Joseph's of the Valley and of the Altar Society there.

She is survived by her husband, Aloysius Fink of the home, three daughters; Helen Marie, Theresa Ann and Mary Ellen Fink, all of the home; two sons, John Joseph and Aloysius P. Fink, Jr., both of the home; three sisters, Mrs. William Marsh, Easton; Mrs. Phillip Meshcon, 412 Main street; and Mrs. John Will, 627 Miami street; two brothers, George Gates, rural route one, city; Michael Gates, Easton, and Joseph Gates, rural route one, city.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Joseph's of the Valley church, the Rev. Fr. Paul E. Kelly, paster, officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet cemetery.

Friends will assemble Friday night at 8:30 at the O'Donnell funeral chapel for the recitation of the rosary. The body will remain at the chapel until the time of service.

W. J. LINAWEAVER was a retired Farmer--His Funeral tomorrow.

W. J. LINAWEAVER, 85, retired farmer of Fairmount Died Saturday night, May 17, 1947, at 11:25 o'clock at his residence.
Mr. Linaweaver was born in Shenandoah County, Va., on July 3, 1861. He came to Leavenworth County 64 years ago and had lived here since. For many years he was road overseer of Delaware township along with his farming and dairy business. He reitred from active farming in 1939 and since that time had made his home in Fairmount.
He was married to Miss Elizaeth Burner on October 17, 1888. they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1938 and would have been married 60 years in 1948. He was a member of St. Paul's Reform church of Woodstock, Va.
Mr Linaweaver was in an automobile accident several years ago and had been in failing health the past four years.
Surving are his widow, Mrs Elizabeth Linaweaver, of the home address, two daughter, Mrs. Pauline Zule, Leavenworth, Mrs. Geneva Seals, Kansas City, Kansas, one son Clude B. Linaweaver, rural route two, Leavenworth, ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afernoon at 2 o'clock at the Sexton funeral chapel. The Rev. James Elliott, pastor of the Basehor and Fairmount methodist churches will officiate. Interment will be in Glenwood cemetary south of Basehor. The body will remain at the Sexton chapel.

D. E. Knight of Basehor is Dead

Succumbs in Kansas City Hospital -

Came to the county as a small boy.

D. E. Knight, 81, retired, of Basehor, died at 8 o’clock last night at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas, where he had been a patient for several days. He had been in failing health a number of months.

He was born in Lawrence, October 6, 1866, and came to Leavenworth County at an early age. He lived near Hoge Station for many years and for the past 40 years had been living at Basehor. He was a member of the Methodist Church there.

Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Grace Knight, of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Roy Grisham and Mrs. Max Scheller, both of Basehor; Mrs. Byron Morris, Molene, Kansas, and Miss Ruthleen Knight of the home; two sons, Joe Knight, Bonner Springs, and David Knight, Howard, Kansas: three brothers, two sisters and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the Basehor Methodist Church. The body is at the Sexton Funeral Chapel.

Interment was in the Mt. Muncie Cemetery.

Mrs. V. Zielinski Dies; She was 66

Funeral Monday Morning for Native of Poland Who came to City at Age of 7

Veronica Zielinski, 66, a resident of Leavenworth for the past 59 years died at 10 o'clock this morning at her home, 620 South Second Street, after an extended illness.
She was born December 6, 1880, in Poland, a daughter of Joseph and Anna Gorski. She came from Poland with her family to America when only seven years old. The family came directly to Leavenworth and made its home here.
In 1896 at St. Casimir's Church she was married to Michale Zielinski. It was the first wedding ceremony performed in the church. The couple celebrated 61 years of marriage last month.
Mrs. Zielinski was a member of St. Casimir's Church and the Holy Rosary Society.
Surviving are the husband, Michael Zielinski, of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Anna Hetki, Cleveland, O., Mrs. Hattie Hinch, of Wiesbaden, Germany; and Mrs. Catherine Mohan, Springsdale; four sons, Anthony Zielinski, Chicago, Ill., Joseph Zielinski, 102 Olive St.; Roman Zielinski, of the home; and Florian Zielinski, 620 1/2 South Second Street; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Schlonga, 511 Thornton Street; and Mrs. Antoinette Bolsenga, Fifth and Thornton Streets; two brothers, Anthony Gorski, 509 1/2 Cherokee Street; and Andrew Gorski, 515 Buttinger Street; and 28 grandchildren and tw9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday norming at St. Casimir's, the Rev. Joseph Laczniak, pastor, officiating. The time will be 9 o'clock according to tentative arrangements. The body will be removed from the O'Donnell Funeral Chapel to the home, 620 South Second Street, at 10:30 Sunday morning. Members of the Holy Rosary Society will assemble at the home at 8 o'clock Sunday evening for a rosary service.
Burial will be in the family lot at Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Widow of Gustave Schonherr Dies at Son's Home-Came Here 51 Years Ago

Mrs. Augusta L. Schonherr, 85, widow of the late Gustave Schonherr, died at 7 o'clock last night at the home of a son, Gustave Schonherr, 813 Olive Street.

Mrs. Schonherr had been in failing health the past five years and seriously ill the past week.

Born in Brandenburg, Germany, October 12, 1862, she was married in Germany and with her husband and family came to America and Leavenworth 51 years ago. That had been her home since that time.

Her husband died January 24, 1934.

Surviving are two sons, Gus Schonherr of the Olive Street address, and Emil Schonherr, 427 1/2 Cherokee Street; a daughter, Mrs. Martha Carter, rural route two; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Sexton Funeral Chapel, Rev. Henry Last, pastor of the Church of the Open Door, will officiate and burial will be in Mount Muncie Cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral chapel until the hour of services.

Peter Alig in County More Than 60 years

Well Known Farmer Dies Here Yesterday, Was A Pennsylvania Native

Peter J. Alig, 82, well known farmer an a resident of Leavenworth County for more than 60 years, died yesterday at 5:50 p.m. at St. John's Hospital following an illness of a month.

Born June 26, 1865,in Pennsylvania, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Alig, he came as a young man to Leavenworth with his parents.

Shortly after that time he returned to Pennsylvania and on July 9, 1890, married Louisa Keller. He and his wife than returned to Leavenworth, where they have made their home since.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Louisa Alig, of the home, rural route four; a daughter, Mrs. T. W. Uhlrich, rural route four; two sons, Leo Alig, rural route two, and Edward Alig, rural route four; a sister Mrs Margaret Forge, rural route four; a brother Charles Alig, 1230 Ottawa Street; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Josephs's Church, the Rev. Fr. Herman Golobic, O. Carm., paster officiating. Interment will be in the family lot in Mount Calvary cemetery.

Friends will assemble at 8 o'clock tomorrow night at the O'Donnell Funeral Chapel for the recitation of the Rosary. The body will remain at the chapel.
