Miss HARRISON Was Active in Church Work

Miss Mary Jane HARRISON, 67, Deaconess of the Methodist Church, 519 Prospect, died at 1 a.m. Sunday at her residence. She had been in failing health for the past two and a half years and seriously ill the past three weeks.

Miss HARRISONwas born in Lawrence, Kas., on July 30, 1886 and was the daughter of Frank and Mary Jane Harrison. The family moved to Leavenworth when she was three years old.

She attended the local schools and high school and the national College of Christian Workers in Kansas City, Mo., where she graduated and moved to Detroit to serve the Methodist Church there, and later churches at Grand Junction and Denver, Colo.

She was a teacher at the Epworth School in St. Louis and returned to Kansas City and took post graduate work at the National College of Christian Workers. She was in Kansas City at the Wesley Methodist Church and the First Methodist Church of Cleveland until she returned to Leavenworth to take care of her mother and while home served the Michigan Ave. Methodist Church for eight years. She retired from active service and took care of the Bethel Methodist Church and the Kickapoo Methodist Church until she retired in June of 1951.

She was a member of the First Methodist Church, teacher of the Bethany Club at the Y.W.C.A. and a member of the board of directors of the Y.W.C.A.

Surviving are seven sisters, Mrs. Maggie PARSONS, 1219 Spruce, Mrs Ida HERRIN, Mission, Kas., Mrs Grace PARSONS 1520 Grand Ave., Mrs. Ellen WHITMAN, 1200 Grand Ave., Miss Minnie HARRISONof the home, Mrs. Matilda LICHTE, RR 2, and Miss Dorothy HARRISON, Clerk of the District Court, of the home. Many nieces and nephews also surive her.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Sexton Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Mark L. Brown, pastor of the First Methodist Church and Dr. Gordon Thompson, pastor of the Oskaloosa Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Muncie Cemetery. The body will remain at the Sexton chapel until the hour of services.

Funeral services for Fred "Fritz" Messinger, 81, 131 Montezuma, who died Saturday at a rest home in Tonganoxie, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Sexton Funeral Chapel. The Rev. W.D. Kirchoff of United Brethren Evangelical Church will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Muncie Cemetery.
Mr. Messinger was born in Leavenworth Nov. 28, 1873 and was the son of John G. and Eva Katherine [Schober]Messinger. For many years Mr. Messinger worked for Geiger and Rutherford and in the later years took care of their yards and shrubs. He was night foreman for many years at the Hinz greenhouse.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Anna Schaufler, 131 Montezuma, Mrs. Edith Eisler, 600 9th Ave., and Mrs. Lena Hartman, Chicago; one brother, Henry Messinger, 2211 S. 5th, and several nieces and nephews.
The body will remain at Sexton Chapel until the hour of service.

FUNERAL MONDAY FOR MRS. MOSER

Mrs. Moser had been in failing health the past year and in critical condition the past two months.

She was born at Lansing April 24 1881, the daughter of Christ and Laura Klingler Rodenburg, early settlers in the Lansing community. She was married to Burr Moser on June 9, 1901 at Mc Louth.

Mrs. Moser was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Ladies Aid Society and the Lansing Community club.

She is survived by her husband, of the home; five daughters, Mrs. Charles Keirns, Bonner Springs; Mrs. Jack Lohman, 531 Michigan; Mrs. Robert Cies, Hasting, Neb.' Mrs. Keith Atchison, Texarkana, Tex.; and Mrs. Harold Edwards, Lansing; one son, Chris Moser, Amarillo, Tex.; four brothers, Paul Rodenburg, RR4; Edward Rodenburg, Kansas City, Kas.; Arthur Rodenburg, 1018 Pawnee; and Fred Rodenburg, Yakima, Wash.; three sisters, Mrs. John Denny, 1901 Dakota; Mrs. Laura Cornett, 513 Arch; and Mrs. Adaline Woellhart, 115 Kingman; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The body is at the Davis Funeral Church. Burial will be in Mt. Muncie Cemetery.

Frank Schmitt, Basehor, Dies; Funeral is Friday

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Anna Schmitt of the home, five daughters, Mrs. Don Cotter, Smithville, Mo.; Mrs. William Johnson, Lansing; Mrs. Lester Gibbons, RR 2; Mrs. Willis Curry, Eagle Rock, Mo., and Mrs. Howard Wadley, Overland Park, Kas.; a son, Joseph Francis Schmitt, Shawnee, Kas; a sister, Mrs. Ray Dunlap, Bonner Springs, Kas. and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Church, Basehor with the Rev. Harry Imhof officiating. Burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Leavenworth. Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie.

Service Tuesday for W. H. McGlinn

A life resident of Leavenworth he was born Aug. 11, 1932, a son of William and Alma Forge McGlinn. He received his early education at the Cathedral School and was graduated from Immaculate High School in 1950. at the time of his death he was employed as a foreman at the Sunflower Ordance Plant.

He was a member of the Old Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception parish. He also was a sergeant in the 5459th Army Reserves Induction Station unit of Leavenworth.

Other than his parents he is survived by two sisters, Nancy MGlinn, and Theresa McGlinn, both of the home, and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Pearl McGlinn 6th and Olive.

Friends will assemble tonight at 8 o'clock at the Larkin Funeral Home for the recitation of the rosary. Members of the Daughters of Isabella will assemble at 9 p.m.

Mrs. Mildred Manson, 42, was born in Leavenworth

Mrs. Mildred Helen Manson, wife of Henry J. Manson, RR 6, St. Joseph died Friday at a St. Joseph hospital. Mrs. Manson was born and reared in Leavenworth. A sister Mrs. Irene DeFrees lisves at 806 Limit.

The funeral will be Monday at 1 pm at the Clark Funeral Home in St. Joseph. Burial will be in the Eagle Cemetery near Jarbalo.

Mrs. Manson was 42 years old. Survivors, other than the husband of the home and Mrs. DeFrees are a son, Robert H. Manson, of the Navy; her parents Mr. and Mrs. E.H. Jeffries, McLouth; two other sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Graves, St. Joseph, and Mrs.Wilma Reetz, Linwood, and two brothers, Aubrey Ray, McLouth, and Maj. John Jeffries, Anoka, Minn.

Brig. Gen. Thomas Walter Darrah(U.S.A. ret) died Friday at New York City, according to work received yesterday by his sister-in-law, Mrs. Percival Darrah, 557 Congress.
He was a native of Salina and came as a lad to Leavenworth with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Damuel Darrah. After completing his high school education here he was appointed to the US Military Academy. On graduation from West Point he was commissioned in the regular army.
He attended the School of the Line at Ft. Leavenworth and remained in station here for three more years to serve as an instruction. During World Ward I he was appopinted brigadier general on April 12, 1918. He retired from active duty on July 31, 1937 on reaching the retirement age of 64 years.
He is survived by his widow, the former Rose Wood of Washington, D.C., and one daughter, Mrs. Warren Brewster, Glencover, Long Island.
Funeral service and interment are planned Tuesday at Arlington Cemetery in Virginia.

Wesley Holyfield, 56, well known farmer and stockman of Piper, Kas., died at 6 p.m. Friday at his residence in Piper. He had been in failing health for the past three years and was taken seriously ill Friday morning.
Mr. Holyfield was born Oct. 24, 1898 in Wyandotte County about a mile south of Piper. He was the sone of the late Sam and Laura Holyfield and was raised in the Piper neighborhood and has lived there all of his life. He was married to Miss Hilda Starnes in Leavenworth, Oct. 31, 1923. He was a past master of Piper Lodge A.F. & A.M. of White Church, when he was 25 years old and the youngest master in the state of Kansas. He has been secretary of the Modern Woodman Camp No. 6989 at Piper for many years. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Hilda Starnes Holyfield, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. L.F. Perry, Piper; one son, George Weslely Hollyfield of the home; a son, Nolan Holyfield died in 1946; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Lallier and Mrs. Thomas Adams, both of Kansas City, Kas; one granddaughter, Laure Leigh Perry.
Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Sexton Funeral Chapel. The Rev. J. Clayton House, pastor of the Maywood Community church will officate and burial will be in A HREF="../library/cemeteries/mtmuncie.html">Mount Muncie Cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral chapel until the hour of service. Delaware masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. will conduct graveside services.

Mrs. Katherine Imhof, 80, a resident of Basehor for seven years, died Friday at St. John's Hospital. Born June 30, 1874 in Germany, she was a daughter of Phillip and Maria Seus. Coming to this country with her parents at the age of 9, the family settled in Pittsburgh, Pa. She resided in Pittsburgh, until she moved to Basehor in 1947. Her husband, the late Adam Imhof, died Sept. 23, 1925. A devout Catholic, and member of St. Patrick's Church of Basehor, she took an active part in church affairs at Basehor and the St. Francis De Salles Church at Lansing. She was a member of the Altar Society of St. Patrick's Church and the St. Francis De Salles Church and the Daughters of Isabella Circle No. 229 of Leavenworth.
Mrs. Imhof is survived by three sons, the Rev. Fr. Harry Imhof, pastor St. Patricks Church, Basehor, and St. Francis De Salles Church, The Rev. Fr. James Imhof, O.S.B. St. Vincent Arch Abbey, Lantrobe, Pa., Lawrence L. Imhof, Pittsburgh; one daughter, Miss Agnes Imhof, Pittsburgh; one brother, the Rev. Fr. Timothy Seus, St. Mary's Pa.; one sister, Tillie Seus, Basehor.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Patrick's Church. The Rev. Fr. Harry Imhof, pastor, will offriciate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
Members of the St. Patrick Altar Society assembled last niht at 8 o'clock at the Larkin Funeral Home for the recitiation of the rosary. The recitation of the rosary will also be Sunday at the following hours: members of the Basehor Council and Leavenworth Council of the Knights of Columbus at 3 p.m., members of the St. Francis De Salles Altar Society at 7 p.m.; members of the Daughters of Isabella 7:30 p.m. and friend at 8 p.m.

MRS. BUTZIN DIES AT HOME SATURDAY

MRS PEARL H. BUTZIN, 47, 412 Osage, wife of Eugene F. Butzin Sr. died at her home at 1 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 1955, following a heart attack. Mrs. Butzin has been in failing health the past two months.

She was born in Leavenworth, Aug. 2, 1908, and has made this her home all her life. She attended the local public schools. She was married in Kansas City, Kas., to Eugene Butzin on June 10, 1924, and was a member of the Aerie No. 55 Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxliary.

Surviving are the husband, Eugene Butzin and her mother, Mrs. Margaret Welch of the home; a son, Eugene F. Butzin, 508 So. 10th and a half brother Albert Balz, 418 Shoemaker and two grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Sexton Funeral Chapel. Father Mack E. Leabo, rector of St.Paul's Episcopal Church, will officiate and place of burial will be announced later. The body will remain at the chapel.
