Grover Cleveland Drennon, 74, 301-1/2 Cherokee, a resident of Leavenworth for 65 years, died this morning following a five month illness.

Born Aug. 20, 1896, in Wyandotte county, he was a son of John and Lue Drennon. He had lived here since 1894 (sic). Before his retirement several years ago, he had been employed as a boiler fireman.

Mr. Drennon is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ray Todd, Lawrence and Mrs. William Watkins, 18th and Limit; two sons, Robert Drennon, 712 S. 2nd and Clinton Drennon, 400 Garland; one brother, J.A. Drennon, Wayonka, Okla. and two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Thompson, Horton, and Mrs. Della Harrison, 814 Cherokee.

Funeral arrancements will be announced by the Larkin Funeral Home.

Word was received today of the death of David Fussell, 67, father of Leavenworth attorney James E. Fussell, in Stronghurst, Ill., following an illness of several months

Mr. Fussell was a lifelong resident of Illinois, and a retired agent of the Santa Fe Railroad

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lola Fussell; two sons, James E. Fussell, 1007 Maple Ave., and Curtis Fussell, Rock Island, Ill., and two grandchildren. Funeral and burial arrangement are pending.

William R. Jost, 55, a former resident of Leavenworth, died at his home Sunday at Tucson, Ariz.

Mr. Jost was born Aug. 28, 1906 at Leavenworth. He was a carpenter and cabinet maker. At Leavenworth in 1941 he was married to Blanche Slack. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy as a carpenter's mate. He moved to Tucson in 1952.

Besides his widow, Mrs. Blanche Jost of the home, he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Anna Marie Veff, Killeen, Tex.; Mrs Rosalle McGee, Leavenworth; Mrs Wilma West, 768 Seneca and Patricia Jost, Tucson; one son, William Jost Jr., Tucson; four brothers, Charles Jost, Topeka; Verno Jost, Kansas City, Mo.; Jack Jost, San Leandro, Calif., and Leo Jost, Tucson, three sisters, Mrs. Bonnie Bazella, Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Mabel Burke, 769 Metropolitan, and Mrs. Stella Stellmacher, 1008 5th Ave.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Davis Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the family lot in the Mt. Muncie Cemetery. The body will be received by the Davis Funeral Chapel early Thursday.

Ed E. Rodenburg Rites Are Pending

Edward E. Rodenburg, 72, Kansas City, Kan., died Sunday at his home.

He was born in Leavenworth and lived in Kansas City 35 years. He retired in 1954 after 23 years as a representative of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Kansas City, Kan.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Tina Russell Rodenburg of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Alice Wilson, Nampa, Idaho; Mrs. Alma Liese, Bountiful, Utah and Mrs. Betty Blaco, Kansas City; three sisters, Mrs. Addie Woellhart, 1134 Ironmoulders; Mrs. Fern Denney, 1901 Dakota, and Mrs. Laura Cornett, 513 Arch; two brothers Paul Rodenburg, RR 4 and Fred Rodenburg, Yakima, Wash., and seven grandchildren.

SERVICE SATURDAY FOR EARL MOORE

Earl G. Moore, 72, 407 N. 11th, a resident of Leavenworth for 60 years died at his home at 2:45 p.m. Thursday. He had returned home from the hospital about two weeks ago and had been in failing health for several months.

Mr. Moore was born near Eureka, Kan., Sept. 15, 1889. The family came to Leavenworth in 1901. As a young man he learned the molding trade and worked at the Great Western Manufacturing Co. for over 34 years, retiring about seven years ago. He was married to Miss Annie L. Morale in Leavenworth on Nov. 9, 1910.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Annie L. Moore of the home address; two daughters, Mrs. Anson Camp of 1117 Spruce, and Mrs. Charles Foy of 110 Prospect; two sons, Howard E. Moore of 1119 Spruce, and Guy W. Moore of 808 N. 11th; one brother, Ed Moore of Spokane, Wash.' seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Sexton Funeral Chapel. The Rev. John Hodge, pastor the Easton Methodist Church, will officiate, and burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the Sexton Chapel.

LEWIS W. WOODARD DIES HERE SUNDAY

LEWIS WALTER WOODARD, 63, 902 N. 9th, a resident of Leavenworth for 43 years, died Sunday, April 16, 1962, at Cushing Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient five weeks. He had been in failing health the past year.

Mr. Woodard was born in St. Joseph, Mo., Aug. 15, 1898. He attended public schools there and learned the painting and paper hanging business.

He came to Leavenworth in 1918, and was married to Miss Freda Korth here Sept. 1, 1920. Mr. Woodard worked here for several painting contractors, and at one time operated his own business. He had been employed at Ft. Leavenworth the past five years.

He was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Freda Woodard of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Jewel Varnholt of 747 Chestnut, and one son, Kenneth Woodard, 818 1/2 N. 9th, and four grandchildren.

Funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Sexton Funeral Chapel with a Christian Science service. Burial will be in Mt. Muncie Cemetery.

PLAN INFANT RUSH RITES ON SATURDAY

Lonnie Eugene Rush Jr., 10 month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie E. Rush, Sr., RR 2, died early today at St. John's Hospital. He had been ill for seven months. He was born November 24, 1961 in Leavenworth.

Surviving other than his parents are five sisters, Linda, Elaine, Theresa, Mary and Peggy Rush, all of the home, and the paternal grandfather, Ned Rush of Lansing.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Sumpter Funeral Chapel with Rev. George Bertels officiating. Burial will be in the baby mound at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Earl F. Dowell, 73, Dies at VA Center

Earl F. Dowell, 73 Kansas City, Kan., and a former resident of Leavenworth, died Thursday night at the VA Hospital. Born Oct. 31, 1889 at Omaha, he was a son of James and Martha Dowell. A veteran of World War I, he served as a corporal in Company A 12th Engineers.
On May 17, 1938 in Kansas City, he married Mary Bietka. He was employed as a conductor for the Missouri Pacific Railroad until his retirement in 1959. He was a member of Leavenworth Masonic Lodge No. 2.
Mr. Dowell is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Dowell of the home in Kansas City; two daughters, Mrs. Earleen Goodack, Kansas City, Kan., and Mrs. Elizabeth Swanson, Sharon Springs; one son, Dudley Dowell, St. Joseph, Mo.; two stepsons, Joseph Sienkowski, New York City, and Edward Sienkowski, Los Angeles; two sisters, Miss Gladys Dowell, Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Fay Lassiter, Missions, and four grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Va Chapel. Burial will be in the VA Cemetery. Friends may call at the Larkin funeral home after 4 p.m. Saturday.

FRANK YOUNG, 78, DIES EARLY TODAY

Frank T. Young, 78, Lansing, died this morning at the VA Hospital. He had been a patient two weeks.

Born March 13, 1884 at Litchfield, Kan., he was a son of Thomas and Margaret Jane Young. Coming to Lansing with his parents from Pittsburg at the age of 14, he had lived in Leavenworth County for 64 years.

He was employed at the Kansas State Penitentiary for 44 years as a hoisting engineer and custodial officer. He retired seven years ago. He was a veteran of World War I.

On May 12, 1920 at the Old Catherdral, he married Miss Edith Westhorpe. He was a member of the St. Franacis de Sales Church, Lansing.

Mr. Young is survived by his widow of the home; three sons, Arthur Young, Denver; Eugene Young, Lansing, and William Young, Goff, Kan; one brother William M. Young, Pittsburg; two sisters, Mrs Rachel Studdard, Lansing, and Mrs. Maxine Herbeck, Burlingame, Calif.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis de Sales Church. The Rev. D. A. Sculley, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Recitation of the Rosary will be at the Larkin Funeral home at the following hours; members of St. Francis de Sales Altar Society, 8 p.m. Friday, and friends, 8:30 Friday. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Thursday.

Memorial Obituary

Xavier J. Bietka Rites Wednesday

Xavier J. "Solly" Bietka, 58, a former resident of Leavenworth, died Sunday morning at St. Margaret Hospital, Kansas City, Kan., where he had been a patient for two days.
Born Nov. 22, 1904 in Leavenworth, he was a son of Vincent and Veronica Bietka. He received his education in the Leavenworth schools and had lived in Kansas City, Kan., for the past 17 years.
He was employed as a steamfitter for the Phillips Petroleum Co. for 26 years, until ill health forced him to retire on Dec. 1, 1962. A veteran of World War II, he served as a Chief Petty Officer in the Seabees.
On Aug. 12, 1944 at Providence, R.I., he married Miss Josephine Bolewski. He was a member of Christ the King Church in Kansas City, Kan.
Mr. Bietka is survived by his widow of the home, three brothers, John Bietka and Alex Bietka, both of 2108 S. 5th, and Vincent Bietka, 536 Michigan; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Dowell, Kansas City, Kan.
Funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Casimir's Church. The Rev. Frank M. Krul, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Larkin funeral home.
