Leavenworth Times Feb. 26, 1968 Mrs. Wingender Dies Sunday Mrs. Margaret Wingender, 87, formerly of Leavenworth, died Sunday in St. Joseph, Mo., where she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Clara Schliecher for the past nine years. She was born in Leavenworth Sept. 30, 1880, the daughter of Samuel and Margaret Sulley. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in St. Joseph. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Clara Schliecher, and a son, Samuel A. Wingender, Whiting, Kan., and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her husband, the late Jacob P. Wingender died in 1941. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Sumpter Funeral Chapel |

Taken from the Leavenworth Times April 8, 1968 Mrs. Woellhart Dies SaturdayMrs. Adeline M. Woellhart, 76, 115 Kingman, died Saturday night. Mrs. Woellhart had been in failing health for several years.Mrs. Woellhart was born Feb. 10, 1892 at Lansing, a daughter of Christ and Laura Klingler Rodenburg. She lived in Leavenworth county her entire life. She was married to Andrew Woellhart at Leavenworth on Nov. 20, 1912. Mrs. Woellhart was baptized and confirmed in the St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. She had been a member of the Ladies Aid at the St. Paul Lutheran Church and was a member of the Ladies League at Trinity Lutheran Church. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Grace Blakely, 230 3rd Ave., Mrs. Marion Harrod, RR 1, and Mrs. Virginia Klingler, 115 Kingman; two sons, Junior Woellhart, Albuquerque, N.M., and Robert Woellhart, Chicago, ILL.; two sisters, Mrs. Fern Denney, 806 Denney Lane, and Mrs. Laura Cornett, 5th and Arch; two brothers, Fred Rodenburg, Yakima, Wash., and Paul Rodenburg, 1209 Randolph; 12 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Two daughters, Mrs. Rose Schermbeck and Miss Dorothy Woellhart preceded her in death. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Marvin W. Kuhlman, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the family lot in the Mt. Muncie Cemetery. Memorial may be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church. The body is at the Davis Funeral Chapel. |

Sheehan, 46, 610 Charles, died Monday night at St. John Hospital where he had been a patient the past week.Born September 27, 1921 in Kansas City, Mo., he was a son of LeRoy E. and Della M. Sheehan. a veteran of World War II he served in the Army Air Force. Coming to Leavenworth from Kansas City, Mo., he resided here for the past nine years. He was employed by Select Products in charge of the printing department. He married Miss Susan Sanders on June 21, 1947 in Kansas City, Mo. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and the VFW. Mr. Sheehan is survived by his wife, Mrs. Susan Sheehan, two daughters, Mary Sue Sheehan and Ann Marie Sheehan, two sons, Robert L Sheehan and John P. Sheehan, all of the home, his mother, Mrs. Delia Sheehan, two brothers, LeRoy Sheehan and William F. Sheehan, all of Kansas City, Mo. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Sacred Heart Church. The Rev. H.H. Grosdidier, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt Calvary Cemetery. Recitation of the rosary will be 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Larkin Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. tonight. |

| CLAUDE B. LINAWEAVER,78, 105 E. Kay, Lansing, a well-known retired farmer and former county assessor, died early Saturday morning at Cushing Memorial hospital. Mr. Linaweaver fell at his home three months ago and broke a shoulder. He apparently had recovered from the fall and returned home, but Friday afternoon he fell again, breaking his hip. He was born Feb 4, 1890, at Lansing, the son of William J. and Elizabeth Burner Linaweaver. He attended the Lansing schools. He had been a farmer in the Lansing community and was a charter member of the Milk Producers Association and Farm Bureau. He was married to Miss Margaret Smoot in Woodstock, Va. on Jan. 11, 1911. They had lived in the Lansing community all their married life, celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversay in 1961. Mr. Linaweaver was assistant supervisor of the census in Leavenworth County for a number of years. He later transferred to Hays, where he remained for a short time. In 1954 he was elected county assessor and served for four terms. He was a member of the Lansing Methodist Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Margaret Linawever, of the home, a daughter, Mr. Mary Rothe, Overland Park, three sons, Walter Linaweaver and Glenn Linaweaver, both of Lansing, and Carl Linaweaver RR 3, a sister Mrs. Geneva Seals, Kansas City, Kansas, 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Sexton Funeral Chapel. The Rev. James P. hays, pastor of the Bethel Baptist Church of Lansing will officate. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. The body is at the Sexton Chapel. |

from Leavenworth Times ANNA ELIZABETH WAIT, 79 formerly of 711 Oak a life resident of leavenworth, died late Sunday night, December 22, 1968, at Cushing Memorial Hospital. She had been in failing health the past year. Mrs. Wait was born here Nov. 26, 1889, the daughter of Franz and Amelia Butzin. She attended local schools and was married to Francis E. Wait, Nov. 18, 1911 in Liberty, Mo. Mr. Wait died Dec. 6, 1952. Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. June Moore, Enid, Okla. and Mrs. Ellen Hobbs, Liberty, Mo.; a son, Francis E. Wait Jr., Decatur, Ga., a sister, Mrs. Martha Korth, 923 Pawnee; and two brothers, Frederick Butzin, 322 Garland, and Frank Butzin, Kansas City, Mo.; five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. The body wll be at the Sexton Funeral Chapel after noon Tuesday. |

Boone, 71, 5101 S. 4th, died Monday night at Cushing Memorial Hospital.Born Dec. 31, 1897 in Leavenworth, she was a daughter of Fred C. and Mae Kaegi. She was married here to Dr. Thomas J. Boone on Oct. 16, 1922. Dr. Boone died Dec. 28, 1958. Mrs. Boone was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Surviving her are a sister, Miss Gene Kaegi, of the home; and a brother, Fred Kaegi, 214 W. 7th. The funeral will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Larkin Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Ft. Leavenworth National Cemetery. The body will be at the Larkin Home after 4 p.m. Wednesday. |

She had been in failing health several years. Born Sept. 12, 1915, in McLouth, she was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Laster. She attended schools in McLouth and was a member of the Baptist Church, McLouth. She had lived here several years. Surviving are a son, Arnold Linaweaver, of the home; her mother, Mrs. Sophia Laster, McLouth; and three brothers, Alvin Laster, McLouth; Clarence Laster, Lawrence; and August Laster Long Beach, Calif. Fink, 75, 1110 Pawnee, died early Sunday at St. John Hospital following a brief illness.He was born in Westphalia, Nov. 10, 1893, a son of Peter and Mary Weissinger Fink. He came to Leavenworth County in 1894 and operated a farm until ill health forced his retirement two years ago when he moved to the City. He served with the Army in France during World War I and was a member of St Joseph Church, the St. Joseph Society, and the George Edward White Post 56 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was married to Edna Tarry April 26, 1922. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Edna Fink, of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Evalyn Linaweaver, RR 3; Mrs. Regina Aaron, 901 N. 11th; Mrs. Eileen Wilk, 1400 Delaware, and Mrs. Angela Forge, 1911 Shawnee; three sons, Gerald Fink, RR 3; Albert Fink, 214 E. Vilas, and Merlin Fink, RR 3 Atchison; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Bott, RR 1, and Mrs. Mary Forge, RR 4; six brothers, Peter Fink, Jr., RR 4; Louis Fink, 122 S. 16th; Herman Fink, 320 N. 17th; George Fink, RR 1; Henry Fink, 1119 Metropolitan, and Joseph Fink, RR 2 Easton and 29 grandchildren. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church. Taken from the Leavenworth Times August 31, 1969 CARTER, M. L. CARTER dies August 30, 1969 Marion Lee Carter Sr., 62, RR 2, died Saturday morning at St. John Hospital. Mr. Carter was born Aug. 7, 1906, in Linsey, Okla., a son of Marris and Mary Carter. He was married here to Martha Shoner (Schonherr) April 18, 1932. He was a five-year Navy veteran and for the past 28 years had been a nursing assistant at the VA Center Hospital. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Martha L. Carter, of the home; a son, Marion L. Carter Jr., with the Navy; two daughters, Mrs. Martha Lou Flanders, 908 N. 9th, and Miss Marjorie Carter, Zocks Trailer Court; six sisters, Mrs. Opal Ehart, Easton; Mrs. Madge Driscoll, 1217 Randolph; Mrs. Waletta Kempt, Warren, Or.; Mrs. Drella Rush Huey, Panama City, Fla., and Mrs. Evelyn Hill and Miss Margaret Alice Carter, both of Lompoc, Calif.; and four grandchildren. Time and place of the funeral will be announced by the Larkin Funeral Home. Taken from the Leavenworth Times 1/2/1970 G.R. SCHONHERR dies January 1, 1970 Gustav R. Schonherr Jr., 80, 729 Kickapoo, a Leavenworth resident more than 70 years, died Wednesday at his home. He had been in failing health several years. Mr. Schonherr was born Sept., 15, 1889, in Brandenberg, Germany, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Schonherr. He moved to Leavenworth when six years old, attended the old German Lutheran school, and as a young man, worked in local coal mines. he worked at the Helmers Furniture factory, and retired from the Bell Laundry in 1954 after 37 years there. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Augusta Wright, of the home, and Mrs. Lena Adams, 3010 Iowa; two sons, Robert S. Schonherr, Alexandria, Va., and Leggo R. Schonherr, 1231 Ottawa; a brother, Emil F. Schonherr, Riverfront and Cherokee; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Sexton Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Muncie Cemetery. The body is at the chapel. |

from the Leavenworth Times, 22-Apr-1970 The body of 21-year-old Harold C. Runnebaum, RR 3, was recovered from the Missouri River Tuesday afternoon near Waldron. The body was sighted by a construction company crew. Platte County Coroner Roland Giffee said death was due to drowning. There was no evidence of foul play. It was the first word of the whereabouts of Mr. Runnebaum, since Jan. 21, when his car was found abandoned midway across the Leavenworth Centennial Bridge. Mr. Runnebaum was born May 12, 1948, at Axtell, Kan., the son of Vincent A. and NeVada Peterman Runnebaum. He attended St. Michael School in Axtell and Sacred Heart School, Leavenworth, and was a 1967 graduate of Immaculata High School. He attended an electronics school in Dex Moines, Iowa, and was employed by the Kaaz Woodworking Co. At the time of his death he was enrolled in an airlines personnel school at Kansas City. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aeire No. 55. Surviving are his parents of RR 3, one sister, Miss Joyce Runnebaum, of the home; four brothers, William Runnebaum, 1203 N. 7th, Lansing; Raymond Runnebaum, 1702 Seneca; Leo Runnebaum, RR 3; and Donald Runnebaum, RR 3; ;his grandmothers, Mrs. Anna Runnebaum, Baileyville, and Mrs. Charlotte Peterman, Denver, and six nieces and nephews. Funeral will be saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Rosaries will be recited at the Sumpter Funeral Chapel at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Knights of Columbus will recite a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The body will be at the chapel after 6 p.m. Thursday. The family suggest memorials to Sacred Heart Church or the charity of your choice. |
