Meyers, 81, RR 1, died unexpectedly Saturday in his home.The funeral will be a 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Meyers was a Leavenworth County native and a retired farmer and nurseryman. He was born Feb. 10 1902, the son of August and Larua Downing Meyers. He was married to Catherine Kern, who died in 1977. He was a member of St. Joseph Church and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 900. He is survived by a brother, Oscar Meyers, Winchester, and three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Zoellner, Winchester; Mrs. Ruby Stevens and Mrs. Letha Browne, both of Leavenworth; and Mrs. Marie Perkins, Chino, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Chester, and sisters, Mrs. Rose Winkler and Mrs. Maude Donald. The parish wake service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Belden Sexton Sumpter Funeral Chapel, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday. |
Taken from the Leavenworth Times April 8, 1983 by Sue Rush. Death date April 7, 1983 Louis FinkFuneral mass for Louis Martin Fink, 87, 122 S. 16th, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.Mr. Fink died Friday evening at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was born Dec. 27, 1895, in Lowemont, the son of Peter and Mary Weisinger Fink. He was employed at Leavenworth Steel until his retirement in 1960. he was a Navy veteran, having served in World War I. He had been a lifetime resident of Leavenworth. He was a member of St. Joseph Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by a son, Louis Fink, Jr., Colton, Calif; a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Robertson, Lansing; two brothers, Henry Fink and Peter Fink, both of Leavenworth; a sister, Mrs. Mary Forge, Leavenworth; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Eileen Peterson in 1982. The Parish Rosary will be recited by friends and members of the parish at 7 p.m. Monday at the Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Funeral Chapel where friends may call after 10 a.m. Monday. |

Rodenburg, 97, formerly of Leavenworth, died Wednesday in Beth Israel Hospital, Denver, Colo.The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Belden Sexton Sumpter Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Stanley Meade officiating. Burial will be in Mount Muncie Cemetery. Mrs. Rodenburg was born at Linwood. Married Aug. 12, 1907, at Lansing to Arthur G. Rodenburg. She and her husband operated grocery stores at Lansing, Leavenworth and Kansas City, Kansas. He died Dec. 5, 1959. Before her marriage she was a teacher. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She is survived by a son, Charles Vernon Rodenburg, Miami, Fla.; four daughters, Will Haworth, Loveland, Colo., Anna May Stigers, Jefferson City, Mo., Geraldine Beers, Black Canyon City, Ariz., and Jacqueline Hart, Fremont, Calif.; two brothers, Aaron Haas and the Rev. Virgil Haas, both of Tonganoxie; a sister, Ana Denholm, Tonganoxie; 12 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sons, Samuel Rodenburg, Wilbur Rodenburg and Dale H. Rodenburg; two brothers, Samuel Haas and Arnold Haas; a sister, Mrs. May Petty; and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. |

| Rofena M. Jochims, 76, formerly of 103 Fourth Ave., died Monday at Tulsa, Okla. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Felden-Sexton-Sumpter Funeral Chapel with burial in Mount Muncie Cemetery. Mrs. Jochims was born July 25, 1907, at Leavenworth, the daughter of Fred and Jenny Schrott Patton. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Leavenworth County historical Society. She was a retired pre-school teacher at Fort Leavenworth. She married Calvin Jochims in 1933. He preceded her in death in 1965. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Edie Henrichsen, Tulsa, Okla.; one sister, June Marie Duncan, Shawnee, and three grandsons. Friends may call at the chapel after 10 a.m. Wednesday. Mr. Fink was born in Leavenworth County Dec. 27, 1894, the son of Peter and Mary Frances Wiesinger Fink. He was a member of the St. Joseph of the Valley Church and the Kansas Farm Bureau. He attended St. Benedict's College and graduated from Ludwig Detective School, Kansas City, Mo. He married Ellen Payeur Nov. 24, 1914. She preceded him in death March 14, 1977. He is survived by two sons, Peter A. Fink, Kansas City, Kan., and Francis M. Fink, Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Catherine Davidson, Kansas City, Kan; a sister, Mary Forge, Leavenworth; a brother Henry Fink, Leavenworth, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Alig, 93, Leavenworth, died Thursday in Cushing Memorial Hospital.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Alig was born June 7, 1891, at Leavenworth, the son of Charles J. and Anna Keller Alig. He worked many years for the Missouri Pacific Railroad before he retired in 1956. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Workers and Station Employees Union. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, the St. Joseph Benevelent Society, an honorary lie member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by two nephews and two neices. The Knights of Columbus and parish wake service will be at 7 p.m. today in the Larkin-Brown Funeral Home where friends may call. The family suggests memorials to the Leavenworth County Infirmary. |

from Leavenworth Times WILMA BUTZIN, 68, Leavenworth died Thursday, Sept. 20, 1984, in her home. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul Lutheran Church. The Rev. Victor Polley, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. Mrs. Butzin was born Aug. 2, 1916, at Boling, the daughter of Henry and Anna Knetter Jenicke. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a charter member of the Mary-Martha Club. She married Fred H. Butzin on may 28, 1938, in the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Leavenworth. He survives in the home. She also is survived by one son, Donald Butzin, Pleasanton, Calif.; two daughters, Mary Lou Hamilton, Leavenworth, and Joan McComas, Shawnee, KS.; one brother Orville Jenicke, Leavenworth; two sisters, Alma Robker and Henrietta Summers, both of Leavenworth; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Jenicke and Carl Jenicke. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday in the Davis Funeral Chapel and the family will receive friends later from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorials may be given to the St. Paul Lutheran Church or to Cushing Memorial Hospital. |

He suffered a stroke in 1975 and had been in failing health the last six months.The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Immaculate Conception Church with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Forge was born July 1, 1900, in Leavenworth County, the son of Herman and Theresa Heim Forge. He was a retired farmer in Kickapoo Township. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. He was married to Agnes Schrick on Nov. 5 1924 at Corpus Christi Church at Mooney Creek. She preceded him in death March 31, 1977. He is survived by a son Edward J. Forge, Leavenworth; three daughters, Jean M. Redford, and Deanna T. Heintzelman both of Leavenworth, and Darlene A. Kleypas, Lawtop, Okla.; one brother, Adrew Forge, Leavenworth, three sisters, Alma McGlinn, Leavenworth, Philomena Bollin, Kansas City, Kan., and Marie Bertels, Nortonville; 16 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Herman Forge, and a sister, Josephine Duffin. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Burial will be in Mount Muncie Cemetery. Mrs. Cornett was born July 23, 1901 at Lansing, the daughter of Christ and Laura Klingler Rodenburg. She had worked for the Veteran Administration Medical Center and retired from Fort Leavenworth. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid and sewing group. She was a member of the Veterans Foreign of Wars and the National Association off Retire Federal Employees. She married John Robert Cornett on Aug. 4, 1928 at Leavenworth. He preceded her in death. She is survived by three daughters, Ellen J. Tyson, Leavenworth, Shirley Redding, Santa Ana, Calif., and Ruth M. Werner, Carmel, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. |
