Dorothy M. RobareDorothy M. Robare, Leavenworth, died Sunday night, May 17, 1992, at Munson Army Community Hospital at Fort Leavenworth. She was 62. Services are pending. Robare, a former nursing assitant, died Sunday, May 17, 1992, at Munson Army Community Hospital. She was 62. She was born July 4, 1929, in Manhattan, the daughter of George Albert and Lena Bellinder Bohn. Mrs. Robare was a 1947 graduate of Immaculata Higih School and a nursing assistant for 12 years at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She married Alfred B. Robare on Aug. 16, 1951 in Leavenworth. He died Nov. 26, 1984. Mrs. Robare was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lansing, the Eagle Auxiliary, and Retired Eagle Activity Club and enjoyed sewing and needlework. She is survived by two sons, Donald A. Robare, Topeka, and George B. Robare, Kansas City, Kan.; seven daughters, Ann B. Heintzelman, Easton, Marjorie C. Robare, Oregon, Catherine L. Robare, Manhattan, and Dorothy T. Steeno, Monica M. Cardy, Melena R. Robare and Valarie S.C. Robare, all of Leavenworth; a brother, Donald R. Thekla WoodenTONGANOXIE -- Thekla Laming Wooden, Lee's Summit, Mo., a homemaker, died Monday, May 18, 1992. She was 84.She was born Oct. 20, 1907, in Tonganoxie, the daughter of John Caulton and Daisy Poetsch Laming. She had been a resident of the John Knox Village, Lee's Summit, for the past 15 years, moving there from Lawrence. Mrs. Wooden was a 1929 graduate of Kansas University, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She married James C. Wooden on Jan 2, 1934, in Tonganoxie. He died Dec. 21, 1965. Survivors include a son, John C. Wooden, Lawrence; a sister, Lenore Jenkins, Lee's Summit; and three grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Quisenberry funeral Chapel. Tonganoxie. Burial will be in Hubbell Hill Cemetery. |

Ethel BolesEthel Boles, Leavenworth, a retired business owner, died Monday, May 18, 1992, at Cushing Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She was 81.She was born Aug. 30, 1910, in Milford, Mo., the daughter of James H. and Phoebe Yant Ligon. She had lived in Leavenworth from 1942 to 1974, when she and her husband moved to Fort Meyers, Fla. She moved back to Leavenworth in 1989. Mrs. Boles was a co-owner and operator with her husband, H. Cecil Boles, of Boles Midwest Auto Supply in Leavenworth for more than 27 years. They retired in 1974. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Leavenworth and a 45-year member of the Byington Chapter 177 Order of Eastern Star, Leavenworth. She married H. Cecil Boles on Jun 24, 1929, at Alamosa, Colo. He died June 11, 1974. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Mina Wark. Survivors include a son, Darrell D. Boles, Parkville; a daughter, Mavis Alexander, Leavenworth; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Barnett-Larkin-Brown Funeral Home, with the Order of the Eastern Star rites at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens |

Taken from the Leavenworth Times Oct 18, 1992 by Sue Rush Anson W. Camp, Lansing, a retired electrical contractor, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1992, at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was 75. He was born July 15, 1917, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Anson and Beulah Marie Teurnage Camp. He had lived in the Leavenworth area since 1951. Mr. Camp worked for the Veterans Administration at Wadsworth, learning to be an electrician until World War II, when he joined the Navy and served in the Pacific Theater from 1944 to 1945. After the service he worked as an electrician at the V.A. Medical Center in Santa Monica, Calif., for five years. He returned to Leavenworth in 1951 and worked at General Motors Co. in Fairfax for five years. He then worked for the Bay State Milling Co. in Leavenworth for 13 years until 1971, when he became a self-employed electrical contractor until he retired. Mr. Camp was a member of the St. Francis de Sales Church in Lansing, and a member of the American Legion Post No. 23 in Leavenworth. He married Eunice Moore on July 18, 1936, in Platte City. She died June 12, 1975, after 38 years of marriage. Mr. Camp married Caroline Lohman on June 19, 1976 in Leavenworth. Mrs. Camp survives at the home. Other survivors include a son, Steven Camp, Leavenworth; two stepsons, Benedict Lohman, Leavenworth, and Michael J. Lohman, Omaha, Neb.; a daughter Eleanor Camp Denney, Leavenworth; four stepdaughters, Mary Lee Driscoll, Kathy Jo Steinbach and Terri Henshaw, all of Leavenworth, and Carolyn Lohman, Dayton, Ohio; two brothers, Rolland Camp and Russell Camp, both of Leavenworth; three sisters, Maxine Hollingshead, Lansing, Charlotte Hendrix, Leavenworth, and Joan Heroneme, Sun City, Ariz.; a stepsister, Dolores Alig, Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nine step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Warren Camp; three sisters, Geraldine Biever, Della Magget and Minna Kuzewski; and a stepbrother, Edmond Camp. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Barnett-Larkin-Brown Funeral Home, where a parish prayer will be read at 7 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon today. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Francis de Sales Church in Lansing, with the Rev. Frank Berger and the Rev. Carl Pfister, the V.A. Medical Center Chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. Memorial may be made to the St. Francis de Sales Church or to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Leavenworth. |

Eisenhower Department of Veterans Affairs, died Thursday, March 13, 1993, at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center. He was 78.He was born May 9, 1915, in Leavenworth, the son of William Owen and Rose Ella Kelly Stafford. Mr. Stafford was a radar repairman with the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a contracting officer for the VA Medical Center for over 30 years, retiring in 1971. He was a member of the Lansing United Methodist Church, AARP and a former member of the Leavenworth Country Club. He married Esther M. Seymour on Aug.31, 1946, in Leavenworth. She survives at the home. Other survivors include a son, Neil K. Stafford, Lansing; two daughters, Beck Stansberry, Anderson, Ind., and Christy Stafford, Bradenton, Fla.; a sister, Helen McCarthy, Lansing;; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Funeral Chapels. Services will begin at 11:45 a.m. Monday funeral chapel. The Rev. James Uhlig will officiate. Burial will follow in the Leavenworth National Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the America Heart Association. |
Taken from the Leavenworth Times June 6, 1993T. VIRGINIA LOHMANT. Virginia Farrell Lohman, a retired bank cashier, died Saturday, June 5, 1993, at the Leavenworth County Infirmanry. She was 72.She was born July 22, 1920, in Weston, the daughter of Clem and Opal Beck Thompson. Mrs. Lohman was a cashier for the Leavenworth National Bank for over 30 years before retiring in the early 1980's. She was a member of the St. Casmir Catholic Church, its Ladies alter Society, the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of the American Business Women's Association. She married Michael J. Farrell in 1941. He died in 1961. She married Jack W. Lohman in September 1971 in Leavenworth. He survives at the home. Other survivors include two sons, Michael C. Farrell, Leavenworth, and the Rev. John R. Lohman, Burlington; a daughter, Carol Wind, Leavenworth; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Barnett-Larkin-Brown Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon on Monday. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Muncie Cemetery. EDITH LOUISE LINAWEAVER, Lansing, a former Fort Leavenworth employee, died Thursday, June 24, 1993, at St. John Hospital. She was 78. She was born June 23, 1915, in Leavenworth, the daughter of Willard Elmer and Vestila May Smith. She worked in the finance department at Fort Leavenworth. She was a member of the Graham Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Lansing and the Lansing First Baptist Church. She married Walter C. Linaweaver in 1959. He died in 1991. Survivors include a son, Robert Wingander Nixa, Mo, a stepson Arnold Linaweaver, Lansing, five grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Davis Funeral Chapel. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel. The Rev. Ray Gilstrap of the Lansing First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Memory Gardens. The family suggest memorial contributions to the Abdallah Shrine Crippled Children's Fund. |

from Leavenworth Times EUGENE F. BUTZIN JR., Leavenworth, a retired General Motors employee, died Friday, July 30, 1993, at Overland Park Regional Hospital in Overland Park, KS. He was 67. He was born April 11, 1926, in Leavenworth, the son of Eugene F. and Pearl Balz Butzin. Mr. Butzin was retired from Gemeral Motors, where he had worked for 32 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Fraternal order of Eagles No. 55, the V.F.W., the American Legion Post No. 23 and R.E.A.C. He married Virginia R. Lebbert on April 23, 1948, in Leavenworth. She survives at the home. Survivors include a son, Mark Butzin, Leavenworth; a daughter, Peggy Hundley, Lansing; and two granddaughters. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Davis Funeral Chapel, where friends may call after 1 p.m. today. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral chapel, with Rev. Jack Divine officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memory Gardens. The family suggest memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Association. |
