Burton D. Bowen, 71, Leavenworth, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City. He was born July 15, 1925 at Ft. Leavenworth.

He served in the Army-Air Corp during World War II. He married Joyce Hicks on Sept 29, 1946, she preceded him in death in 1984. He then married Dorothy M. Jackman on Aug. 23, 1986, she survives. He was employed at the Fort Leavenworth Printing Plant as a lithographer, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, a 48 year member of the Sanctuary Choir in the church, Chairman of the Remodeling Committee, a member of the Leavenworth Country Club, the Eagles and was a volunteer Deputy Sheriff.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three daughters, Judy Rounda, Jill Guenther, both of Leavenworth and janet Bowen, Olathe; 2 step-daughters, Debra Jackman, Denver, Colo. and Lisa Howard, St. Louis, Mo.; two sisters, Dorothy Collins, Leavenworth and Mary Lou Jackson, Parkville, Mo.; five granchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded by one brother and one sister.

Funeral services were hel Friday, Sept. 6 at the United Methodist Church, Leavenworth with the Rev. Harold Peters officiating. Burial was in Mt. Muncie Cemetery.

Harold K. Champion, 86, Tonganoxie, died Thursday, Sept. 5, at the Lawrence Presbyterian Manor, Lawrence.

Funeral Services were held Monday, Sept. 9 at the United Methodist Church, Tonganoxie. The Rev. David Petersen officiated. Burial will be in Hubbel Hill Cemetery, Tonganoxie.

Mr. Champion was born Jan. 9, 1910, in rural McLouth, the son of Fred and Eleanor Slawson Champion. He moved to Tonganoxie in 1946 from McLouth.. He owned the Champion IGA Grocery in Tonganoxie for 33 years. Previously, he had owned a grocery store in McLouth. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Tonganoxie and a charter member of the Tonganoxie Kiwanis Clug. He was united in marriage Jan. 28, 1931, in McLouth, to Dorothy White. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Joann Schultz, Tonganoxie, and Marilyn Stahl, Spring Hill; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Norma B. Stambaugh, 78, Tonganoxie, died Sunday, Sept. 8, at her home. She was born Sept. 28, 1917 in Providence, R.I., the daughter of Ralph and Charlotte Harrison Simmons. She moved to Tonganoxie in 1957 from Eudora.

Mrs. Stambaugh was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Lawrence. She was united in marriage Jan 8, 1943 at Fort Scott to Harry W. Stambaugh, who preceded her in death May 13, 1984.

Survivors include two daughters, Ambersue Stambaugh, Pampa, Texas and Hilary Annette McAlexander, Lehigh, Fla., and two grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Silver Lake Cemetery, Silver Lake. The Rev. Thomas Momberg officiated. Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie, is in charge of arrangements.

Leo Forge

He was born March 18, 1904, Leavenworth, the son of Frank and Margaret Alig Forge.

Mr Forge farmed his whole life in the Leavenworth area. He retired in 1973.

He married Irene Culp in 1936 in Leavenworth. She died in 1991.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Rudolph; and one sister, Katie Rhodes.

Survivors include a Auther, Margaret Kowalewski, Clinton, Tenn; three sons, Walter and Leo Forge, both of Leavenworth, and Raymond Forge, Potter; four grandchildren and tree great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be for 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Barnett-Larkin-Brown Funeral Home.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Arnold Twenhafel of St. John Lutheran Church, Easton, will officiate. Burial will follow at the Langley Cemetery, Easton..

PETER L. WAGNER, Sunrise Beach, Mo., died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 1997, at Cushing Hospital. He was 69.
He was born May 6, 1927, the son of Peter M. and Mary E. Domann Wagner in Atchison County.
Mr. Wagner served in the Army during World War II in the medical corps.
He had worked as the grounds and garage supervisor at the Eisenhower VA Medical Center. He retired in 1979.
He was a member of the American Legion, Elks and Knights of Columbus.
He married Patricia Broderick on Sept. 8, 1951, in Perron, Mo. She survives at Sunrise Beach, Mo.
Other survivors include one son, Thomas E. Wagner, O'Fallon, Ill; four daughters, Patricia E. Spindler, Westmore, Colo., Judith Ronnebaum, Columbia, Mo., Mary Wilkes, Park City, Utah and Colleen Gonzales, Corpus Christi, Texas; five brothers, John, Walt, Anthony and Merlin Wagner, all of Easton, and Robert Wagner, Lansing; two sister, Marie Kenny and Clara Goetz, both of Leavenworth; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren
. He was preceded in death by one son, Joe; one brother, Leo Wagner; and one grandson.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Easton. Burial followed in the St. Lawrence Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

MARGUERITE DONNELL

TOPEKA--MARGUERITE ELIZABETH KORTH DONNELL, Topeka, KS. formerly of Leavenworth, died Friday Jan. 10, 1997, at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka, KS. She was 77.

She was born Feb 6, 1919, in Leavenworth, the daughter of Otto Paul and Marth Marie Butzin Korth.

Mrs. Donnell was a homemaker and lived her life in Leavenworth until moving to the Presbyterian manor in Topeka to be near her family.

She had been employed as a health care worker at Saint John Hospital in Leavenworth and a nursing care facility in Easton.

She and her husband were active in the Tin Lizzie Unit of Abdallah Shrine, Kansas City, Kan.; Beauciant and White Shrine organizations.

She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Leavenworth.

She married Mervyn C. Donnell on March 22, 1938, in Platte City, Mo. He died Feb. 6, 1994.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Hollingshead, Silver Lake, KS. and Deanna Mahaffey, Jewell; one sister, Edna Asbury, Lansing; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren

. Friends may call after 10 a.m. today at the Parker-Price Mortuary, Topeka. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary. Services will begin at 10 a.m Tuesday at the Jellison Chapel at the Topeka Presbyterian Manor. Graveside services will be held at noon Tuesday at the Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery, Leavenworth. Charles Biltz

He was born April 20, 1917, in Leavenworth, the son of Joseph and Gertrude Edgell Biltz.

Mr. Biltz attended Leavenworth schools. He had worked as an auto mechanic for Henry Martens until his retirement in 1984.

He married Lucille Kern on June 26, 1946, in Leavenworth. She died Aug. 26, 1995.

He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Venton, Orville, Joseph and Walter Biltz; and three sisters, Annie Kruse, Jennie Meyers and Ottie Morton.

Survivors include three daughters, Charlene Biltz, Cheryl Yeaton and Deanna Carter, all of Leavenworth; two sisters, Kathryn Wallace and Josephine Bond, both of Leavenworth; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at the Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel. The Rev. Fergus Lickteig will officiate. Burial will follow at the Mount Calvary Cemetery.

FREDERICK W. BUTZIN JR., Salix, Iowa, formerly of Leavenworth, died Wednesday, April 23, 1997, in a Sioux City, Iowa, hospital where he had undergone heart surgery. He was 73.

He was born in Leavenworth, the ony child of Frederick W. and Imogene Butzin.

Mr. Butzin was a member of the Leavenworth high school class of 1942.

He served in the Army under Gen. George Patton and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He joined Graybar Electric in 1951, which took him to Omaha, Neb. He retired as a sales manager in 1981.

He married Dorothy Jones, also formerly of Leavenworth, in 1948. She survives at the home.

Other survivors include three sons, Larry and Steven, both of Omaha, Neb; and David,, Fremont, Neb.; and six grandchildren.

Burial was held April 29, at the Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Omaha, Neb.
