Joseph, Guiseppe and Antonio Lombardo

On Friday, April 16, 2004, Butch Lombardo entered eternity. He died as he had lived, with his two sons.
Butch was a true man. He was a passionate and protective husband to the love of his entire life, Cindi Sue Lombardo. He was a fully devoted father and friend to his sons, Guiseppe D. M. Lombardo III and Nino M. V. Lombardo I, and his daughter Dara Ann DeSoto. He was known as "Uncle Butch" to countless people whom he loved as deeply as any father loves his own children.
Butch was a hard worker, an inventor, a general "do-it-yourself" genius who could fix anything. He was an artist and a musician. He was an auto mechanic and a woodworker. He was an herbalist and was great with a sewing machine. There was nothing that Butch could not do.
But although his talents were many, his passions were two. Butch loved family, and all that entered his life became family. He was also a passionate follower of Jesus Christ. Butch completed four years of Bible college, then taught at the same college. Although Butch never sought a following, he never lacked anxious listeners. Multitudes sat under his teachings and he taught with passion and conviction, believing with all of his heart that everyone needed to hear the gospel message, from the youngest child to the most seasoned adult. In 2002, Butch started the Sower's Field Bible College to teach God's word to any student hungry to learn it. He taught free of charge, at great personal expense, and would have it no other way.
Butch was born in Kansas City, MO, to Joseph and Emagene Lombardo and is survived by his wife Cindi Sue, his mother Gene, his brother Michael, and his sister Dorothy.

Guiseppe Domiono Michael Lombardo III and Antonio Michael Vincento Lombardo I embarked on a new journey on April 16, 2004. They leave to explore heaven just as they explored so much of this world, side by side.
Guiseppe was a true man of God, a man of conviction. Many knew the passion of his confrontation but none doubted the depths of his love, for he loved with all of himself. Any who knew Guiseppe knew the power of touch, for hugs, kisses, and pats were a common form of his communication. He was an artist, a photographer, and a general collector of everything. He traveled the world and life to its fullest. Most of all, Guiseppe was a passionate witness to Christ. Fully consumed with doing the right thing, often breaking his own heart to either do things right or make them right. Guiseppe loved family unconditionally and prayed for them often.
Nino was life. He had a vibrance and enthusiasm that was matched by none. Anyone in the same room with Nino found it difficult to keep from smiling. He was truly gifted. He was an artist, an anointed worship leader, spoke several languages, and had more great ideas than 20 people could ever accomplish. He was a gifted storyteller and an all around people magnet, with a smile that lit up a room. Nino traveled the world for pleasure but never took a trip without finding someone to talk to about the passion of his life, Jesus Christ. Guiseppe and Nino are survived by their mother, whom they both loved with fervency, and their sister Dara Ann. Memorial celebration will start at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Full Faith Church of Love. Josephine V. Jenicke

She was born in Cushing, Okla., the daughter of August A. and Harriett M. (Short) Bader. On Feb. 3, 1971, she married Charles H. Jenicke. He preceded her in death on April 7, 1978.

Josephine was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church; a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary; a member of the Happy Face Club; Boling Canning Club; the Eagles Auxiliary; REAC; and the Home League of the Salvation Army. She enjoyed playing bunko at the VFW.

Survivors include a daughter, Dr. B.J. Strumillo, Carmichael, Calif.; three grandchildren, Jeanette Strumillo, Jennifer Freitas and Dr. Clement J. Strumillo; six great-grandchildren, Steven, Clement, William, Michael, Victoria and Christina; and one great-great-grandchild, Emma Jean.

Josephine was preceded in death by her three brothers, Harold C. Bader, Edward F. Bader and Linnus A. Bader.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Davis Funeral Chapel, 531 Shawnee St., Leavenworth.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Davis Funeral Chapel. Corps Administrators Chuck Cook and Dana Cook of the Salvation Army will officiate. A Mass of Christian Burial for Gabriel R. "Chino" Hernandez, 82, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2004, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Lawrence. Burial will be in Hubbel Hill Cemetery, Tonganoxie.

Mr. Hernandez died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born March 10, 1922, in Silao, Guato, Mexico, the son of Candelario and Apolonia (Rivas) Hernandez.

He moved here in 1931 and had worked for the Santa Fe Railway, Lawrence, and for Hercules Army Ammunition Plant, De Soto.

Survivors include two brothers, Joe Hernandez, Kansas City, Kan., and Jesse Hernandez, Lawrence; and two sisters, Carmen Gutierrez, San Antonio, Texas, and Teresa Schwartz, Lawrence.

A parish rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today, June 9, 2004, with a vigil from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence.

Andrew J. Forge

He was born March 28, 1913 in Leavenworth , KS the son of Herman and Theresa Heim Forge. He was a member of St. Joseph Church , and member of the St. Joseph Men's Society for over 50 years. He was a Life Member of the Eagles and a Golden Eagle. He was a member of REAC.

He married Ruth L. Weishaar on June 3, 1939 in Nortonville , KS , she survives at the couples' home. Andrew and Ruth owned and worked a farm in Kickapoo early in their marriage before his love for carpentry took his career in a different direction. He worked in the in the Quartermaster Shop at Ft. Leavenworth for many years retiring in 1976. He was most proud of his Certificate of Appreciation for designing and constructing the catapult for the funeral services of Presidents Harry Truman and Lyndon Johnson.

Following his retirement he worked side by side with his wife Ruth acquiring antiques they could restore and share with family and friends.

Other survivors include three daughters and spouses Mary and Roger Turner, Shawnee , KS , Susan and Don Israel, Overland Park , KS and Lynda and Ron Rogacki, Lake Lotawana , MO. Seven grandchildren Lisa, Todd, Kathy, Kelly, Chris, Erin and Gentry and nine great-grandchildren Ryan, Sara, Connor, Katelyn, Lindsey, Austin, Haley, Jack and Elizabeth.

He was preceded in death by two brothers Edward and Herman Forge Sr., four sisters Josephine Duffin, Marie Bertels, Philomena Bolin and Alma McGlinn.

The family will greet friends from 9- 10:30 AM Wednesday at the R. L. Leintz Funeral Home. A Mass of Resurrection will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. David McEvoy, O.Carm as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery . Family and friends will gather for fellowship in the Community Room at the funeral home following the committal service at the cemetery.

He was a wonderful and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend to all. He will be missed very much by his family who find solace in knowing he is now at peace in his eternal home.
