Buchanan Jr., 77, of Leavenworth, passed away Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, at Leavenworth Homestead Assisted Living.He was born the son of James C. and Hazel (Bell) Buchanan Sr. on July 30, 1926, in Leavenworth. He married Betty Beam on June 10, 1946, in Leavenworth. She passed away on Nov. 13, 1995. James farmed his entire life in the Fairmount area. He was a member of the Fairmount United Methodist Church. His last outside job was with Tension Envelope in Kansas City. He is survived by sons James K. Buchanan, London, Ky., and Kenneth W. Buchanan, Leavenworth, three grandchildren and his life-long companion Arline. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Betty Buchanan. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at the Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Funeral Chapels, 500 Oak St., Leavenworth; 682-1614. Friends may call after 3 p.m. A funeral service officiated by Pastor Jerry Muncy will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Kickapoo Memorial Cemetery in rural Leavenworth County. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Fairmount United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home. |

Wagner, 57, Leavenworth, died Saturday, March 13, 2004, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.She was born Feb. 10, 1947, in Sullivan, Mo., the daughter of Ellis and Leah Thomas Evans. Barbara was retired from the Eisenhower VA Medical Center in Leavenworth. She was currently working for the Durham Bus Service where she was a bus monitor. Barbara is survived by Larry V. Fevurly of the home; three sons, Jeff Wagner and wife, Tracey, Leavenworth; Steve Fevurly and wife, Tracey, Leavenworth, and Gary Fevurly and wife, Wendy, Lenexa; her mother, Leah Land of Wichita; father, Ellis Evans and stepmother, Ardell Evans, Stillville, Mo.; sister, Sonja Land; five brothers, Paul Fuller, Gary Evans, Frank Evans, Steve Evans and Murlyn Land; and three grandchildren, Maggie Wagner, Nicolas Wagner and Derek Fevurly. Jenkins. He survives her. She was a proprietor of the Classic Tails Pet Salon in Lansing. Yenita leaves behind her husband, Robert E. Jenkins, of the home; a son, Robbie C. Jenkins and his wife, Kelly; and grandchildren Kaylie and Savannah Jenkins, all of Lansing; two brothers, Dean Mitchell, Tonganoxie, and Irving Mitchell, Lawrence; and one sister, Velva Baker, Slidell, La. She was preceded in death by one brother, Wade W. Mitchell. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2004, with a memorial service at 7 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Chapel, 531 Shawnee St., Leavenworth. She was born Aug. 1, 1933, in Leavenworth, the only child of Albert and Florence Balz.After she graduated from Saint Mary College with a degree in music, she went to New York City and participated in a contest to become a concert pianist. She was accepted but instead decided on a teaching career in Leavenworth. She married Juan Santiago, they later divorced. Alberta taught music for 37 years and retired from MacArthur School at Fort Leavenworth. She loved music, nature and animals. She leaves behind her friends, Eva Palmer, Becky Price, Becky Smioly, Kerry and Michael Black; cousins, Pat Eddy, Dan Ettinger, Meredith Klasinski and Cheryl Riley; numerous friends and cousins; and her three beloved dogs, Mary January, Betsy Babette and Chelsea Simone. Memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at the First Christian Church, Sixth and Seneca streets, Leavenworth. Inurnment will be in the Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery. The Davis Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Bohannon, 66, of Lansing, passed away Friday, April 30, 2004, at her home.She was born the daughter of Leslie and Virginia (Patterson) Hart on July 12, 1937, in Leavenworth. She married William Bohannon on May 18, 1957, in Leavenworth. She was employed as a librarian for the Fort Leavenworth library for more than 30 years. She enjoyed playing golf and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, William, of the home; son, Mike Bohannon, Leavenworth; sisters Margaret Owens, Leavenworth, and Viola Brown, Fort Wayne, Ind.; brothers George Hart, Ukiah, Calif., and Bill Hart, Spring, Texas; two grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, William Bohannon. A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Barnett-Larkin-Brown Funeral Home, 707 S. Sixth St., Leavenworth, KS 66048, 682-2820. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery. Taken from the Leavenworth Times May 9, 2004 by Sue Rush Travis Wayne PierronTravis Wayne Pierron of Easton died early Saturday morning, May 8, 2004 in a car accident on Highway 92 in Leavenworth County. He was 20 years old.Travis was born September 24, 1983 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Vickie L. (Wagner) Pierron and Dennis W. Pierron. He attended Easton Schools and graduated from Pleasant Ridge High School in 2002. He was prom king, active in sports, loved the outdoors, and enjoyed working on his cars and dirt bike. He had a fun personality and was a good friend to all. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church of Easton, Kan. Travis was employed at Leavenworth County Public Works as a maintenance worker and previously worked at Ernzen Dairy Farm for four years. He also helped many family members and neighbors with various jobs and farm work. He is survived by his mother Vickie L. (Wagner) Pierron of Easton, father Dennis W. & Kim Pierron of Leavenworth, two sisters, Lacee M. Norris and her husband, Charles of Leavenworth and Jenny L. Pierron of Kansas City, Mo., and a brother Chad L. Pierron of the home. Also, a niece Isabell M. Norris. His maternal grandparents are Duane and Nancy Reed and paternal grandparents are Louis and Peggy Pierron. Other survivors include many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Leo L. Wagner in 1964 and his aunt Jacqueline G. (Wagner) Howard in 1999. Friends may call at Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Funeral Chapel after 3 p.m. on Monday with visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. A parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday May 11 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Easton, with Fr. Jenicke, Leavenworth, died Saturday, May 22, 2004, at Colonial Manor in Lansing.She was born in Cushing, Okla., the daughter of August A. and Harriett M. (Short) Bader. On Feb. 3, 1971, she married Charles H. Jenicke. He preceded her in death on April 7, 1978. Josephine was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church; a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary; a member of the Happy Face Club; Boling Canning Club; the Eagles Auxiliary; REAC; and the Home League of the Salvation Army. She enjoyed playing bunko at the VFW. Survivors include a daughter, Dr. B.J. Strumillo, Carmichael, Calif.; three grandchildren, Jeanette Strumillo, Jennifer Freitas and Dr. Clement J. Strumillo; six great-grandchildren, Steven, Clement, William, Michael, Victoria and Christina; and one great-great-grandchild, Emma Jean. Josephine was preceded in death by her three brothers, Harold C. Bader, Edward F. Bader and Linnus A. Bader. "Chino" Hernandez, 82, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2004, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Lawrence. Burial will be in Hubbel Hill Cemetery, Tonganoxie. Mr. Hernandez died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born March 10, 1922, in Silao, Guato, Mexico, the son of Candelario and Apolonia (Rivas) Hernandez. He moved here in 1931 and had worked for the Santa Fe Railway, Lawrence, and for Hercules Army Ammunition Plant, De Soto. Survivors include two brothers, Joe Hernandez, Kansas City, Kan., and Jesse Hernandez, Lawrence; and two sisters, Carmen Gutierrez, San Antonio, Texas, and Teresa Schwartz, Lawrence. A parish rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today, June 9, 2004, with a vigil from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence. Forge, 91 of Leavenworth died Friday, September 3, 2004 at his home with his beloved wife, Ruth of sixty-five years and three daughters by his side.He was born March 28, 1913 in Leavenworth , KS the son of Herman and Theresa Heim Forge. He was a member of St. Joseph Church , and member of the St. Joseph Men's Society for over 50 years. He was a Life Member of the Eagles and a Golden Eagle. He was a member of REAC. He married Ruth L. Weishaar on June 3, 1939 in Nortonville , KS , she survives at the couples' home. Andrew and Ruth owned and worked a farm in Kickapoo early in their marriage before his love for carpentry took his career in a different direction. He worked in the in the Quartermaster Shop at Ft. Leavenworth for many years retiring in 1976. He was most proud of his Certificate of Appreciation for designing and constructing the catapult for the funeral services of Presidents Harry Truman and Lyndon Johnson. Following his retirement he worked side by side with his wife Ruth acquiring antiques they could restore and share with family and friends. Other survivors include three daughters and spouses Mary and Roger Turner, Shawnee , KS , Susan and Don Israel, Overland Park , KS and Lynda and Ron Rogacki, Lake Lotawana , MO. Seven grandchildren Lisa, Todd, Kathy, Kelly, Chris, Erin and Gentry and nine great-grandchildren Ryan, Sara, Connor, Katelyn, Lindsey, Austin, Haley, Jack and Elizabeth. He was preceded in death by two brothers Edward and Herman Forge Sr., four sisters Josephine Duffin, Marie Bertels, Philomena Bolin and Alma McGlinn. The family will greet friends from 9- 10:30 AM Wednesday at the R. L. Leintz Funeral Home. A Mass of Resurrection will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. David McEvoy, O.Carm as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery . Family and friends will gather for fellowship in the Community Room at the funeral home following the committal service at the cemetery. He was a wonderful and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend to all. He will be missed very much by his family who find solace in knowing he is now at peace in his eternal home. Andrew's daughters would like to thank Lisa and Becky for all the love care they provided our parents. The family would also like to thank Hospice of Leavenworth for their help and support.
