BARTON, Robert B. born July 24, 1839, lived in Linn Co., served in the
Kansas Militia during the Civil War, married Charity Frances Hinds in 1866
in Linn Co. and died in Bates Co Mo 1913. I am very anxious to find any
information about his ancestors, particularly his parents. I would also
be interested in information about his wife, Charity HINDS and her family,
who came to Linn Co in the 1850's.

Am searching for any GARRETT family that may have lived in the
Pleasanton,Kansas area in the 1930 to 1951 time period.
Cora BARTLETT GARRETT (sister to my orphaned Grandpa Henry Benjamin
Bartlett),supposedly lived on a farm near Pleasanton, Kansas in this time
period. They were orphans born in Trenton, New Jersey who were put on the Orphan
Train in the East and sent "out west". They supposedly kept their
BARTLETT last names. My grandfather Henry Benjamin Bartlett died in Anna, Illinois in 1951 but
is buried in Laramie,Wyoming.

I am searching for information on GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC members
who served in units recruited in Linn County from 1861 - 1865. My great
grandfather, Henry Bascom SCOTT served in Companies D and L, Fifth Kansas
Cavalry from 1862-1865.
Unfortunately, the GAR, although it was the largest Northern
veteran's
organization, published almost nothing. I do know that HBS was an active
member until he died in 1925 and I'm hoping that someone somewhere has a
roster of GAR members and/or records of meetings and encampments and, best
of all, photographs of individuals or groups of men who met periodically
following the War. While I'm not certain, I would imagine that the GAR
unit (whatever it was called) would've included guys from Linn and,
possibly Bourbon and Miami Counties.
What became of their records? There must have been some. Does anyone
out there have any ideas on how to run this information down? I would be
very grateful for any help, clues, leads or ideas.

I'm looking for any info on DEXTER REYNOLDS FISHER in the Linn County
area. He was adopted by the FISHER family because his father was killed
in the Civil War. His birth name may have been REYNOLDS. Dexter later
settled in Lincoln County, OK.

Thomas MALLON arrival in this country, naturalization, marriage to
Elizabeth TURNER. Where and when was his death? Was it in Linn Co, KS?

one of first settlers, 1811, in Linn County. He was born about 175 in NC.
md a Frances last name unknown, Among his children were my GGGrandfather
Andrew Jackson and Quentin. He died in Linn county KS . Any help

My ancestor, Elias HOOVER, died of wounds received in the battle at Mine
Creek. Archival records indicate that he died at General Hospital, Mound
City, KS on 04 Nov 1864 and was buried in Mound City. I have learned
there are five cemeteries in Mound City (Centerville, Fairbanks,
Linnville, Mt. Carmel and Parks). I would like to locate his gravemarker.
Can someone help me? Many thanks!

MORRIS, MONCRIEF, IRELAND, CLOPPER, GRAY: I am looking for more
information on the following line: Elihu IRELAND married to Hannah
CLOPPER came to Linn County, LaCygne in 1867. Elihu had fought in the 46th
Ohio Regiment in the Civil War. They had at least two children. Margaret
IRELAND and Jerry IRELAND. Margaret was born in Ohio in 1842. She married
John MONCRIEF and they had at least two children. Hanah Arminta MONCRIEF
and a sister. Hannah married William Joe MORRIS. She died about 1895. They
had at least 3 children. Ola Jean MORRIS, William Ray MORRIS, and Terry
Earl MORRIS. Ola is my great grandmother. She was born 1/16/1891 and died
on 2/4/1990. She married Osceola Millard GRAY. Any additonal information
on any of these would be greatly appreciated!

My father was born in Linn County in 1883 as were a few of his
sisters and brothers. His mother and father were Malinda (LOVELESS) and
Andrew Nixon WALKER. My father's name was Orlendo Thomas Walker.
The Loveless family came to Kansas before 1870 from Kentucky. Malinda's
mother and father were Malinda (Day) and Thomas R. Loveless.
