BROADY: Can anyone help solve a 40 year old mystery ? In the early 1960s we
were in Disneyland (of all places), and an unknown woman came up to my mother,
Elizabeth BROADY (from Nebraska), and bagan talking to her like they were good
friends. This woman had a very hard time accepting that my mother was not
MARILYN BROADY from Kansas who had "something to do with women's clubs."
JASPER BROADY was my mother's great uncle. He was born 1837 in Adams Co IL, and
moved with his family to Linn County KS (Blue Mound ?). I do not know the date.
Jasper BROADY is our only BROADY - Kansas connection. We are descended from
his brother, Jefferson H BROADY.
My mother (no longer living) was too surprised to ask questions about
MARILYN BROADY. She described this incident many times, but never
pursued it. Can anyone help ?
Judith Wilson (Broady - Smith)

James Carter GETTINGS Wed, 26 Jul 2000 16:17:11 EDT
My name is James Carter GETTINGS and I am researching the WIER surname of my
mothers side of our family. John ? WIER was born March 1851 in Illinois and
married Carrie Lee NUCKOLS born August 1863 in Virginia. At some point prior
to 1885 they migrated to Lincoln Twp. Linn County Kansas. They had two
daughters. My grandmother Blanche WIER born February 1885 and my great aunt
Tolie WIER born January 1897. Both were born in La Cygne, Kansas. Blanche
WIER married Glen Harrison CARTER and they had two children. My mother
Harriett Jean CARTER and my uncle Glen Harrison CARTER Jr. I am looking for
any information on John WIER'S parents Barnett WIER and Sarah WIER or Carrie
Lee WIER'S parents Thomas B. NUCKOLS and Sarah E. NUCKOLS. I understand that
Carrie Lee is buried in Linn County. I don't know what happened to John WIER
but I found a 1920 census record showing Carrie Lee living with my
grandparents in Lawrence, Kansas listed as Carrie GAINES. Apparently John
WIER died and Carrie Lee re-married a GAINES. I have linked up with a cousin
who still lives in La Cygne,Ks. by the name of Arlene Johnson HARVEY but she
does not know any more than I do at this point. Any information on the WIER
family would be most appreciated. My e-mail is: GETTINGSJAMES@aol.com.

Does anyone know of a way to get in touch with whoever is in charge of
Pleasant View Cemetery in Blue Mound? I believe my great uncle, William
Minter BISER may have purchased plot 50. The cemetery index published by
the Linn County Historical Society lists a W.M. BISER, NS (no stone) for that
plot. I would really like to determine if anyone is actually buried there,
and if it is indeed my great uncle. He did live in Blue Mound, and one of
his children was born there early in the 20th century. His widow is buried in
Wichita. Thank you.

I'm looking for any information on SID LOWE(born abt. 1830) who lived in

balcony. If I can find significant information on him, perhaps that will
lead me to MARY LOWE who is the person I'm really tracking. She is my
