| Obituary of PETRONA KRISTEK |
| Petrona Kristek, 94, died Aug. 2, 2000, at
Marion Manor where she had lived the past three and one-half years. She
moved to Marion Manor from her home in the Ramona community. Born Jun 6, 1906, on the family farm near Pilsen, she was the daughter of William and Mary (Stika) Klenda. She grew up in the Pilsen community and attended school there. She married Leo Kristek April 24, 1928, at Pilsen. The couple had one daughter, Evelyn. Mr. Kristek died Aug. 30, 1985. Petrona was a hard worker all her life. She farmed the fields as well as being the homemaker. She enjoyed raising flowers and her cats around the home. She was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Holy Family Parish at Pilsen. She was preceded in death by a brother, Emanuel Klenda. Survivors include her daughter, Evelyn Grogan of Winfield; a brother, Ted Klenda of Tulsa, Okla.; two sisters, Emma Klenda of Pilsen and Sister Alice Klenda of Wichita; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at the church at Pilsen with burial in the church cemetery. Fr. Steve Gronert was the celebrant for the Mass. Margaret Vinduska was the organist with Madonna Schafers as song leader. Casket bearers were Tim Grogan, Mike Grogan, Matthew Grogan, Kevin Grogan, George Kristek, and Steve Kristek. A memorial fund has been established in her name at Marion Manor. |
