I am looking for information on VILETTA HAYES who I believe died in Hiawatha in January of 1891, Her husband was WILLIAM R HAYES who I believe married again, maybe twice. These people are my Great-grandparents. Viletta was a widow of a Mr DOCTOR when she married William in Indiana. Besides my grandfather, John Henry HAYES, she had at least two more children with William, Ira Freeman Hayes and Annie B Hayes.  She had four Children with Mr Doctor,  Ida M , Mary, Margaret and Samuel.  Samuel also lived in Hiawatha and Ida married Rudolph SCHOBER and lived in Horton in 1930. I am looking information on the parents and siblings of Jacob KIRLIN.  He was born in VA or IN on 18 Apr 1818, married in IL to Nancy MILLS on 11 Nov 1847, died in Hiawatha, Brown Co., KS on 19 Aug 1882.  He had two children in the vicinity in 1882 Linden KIRLIN and Alma KIRLIN CRABBE.  We believe his parents were William KIRLIN of IN and Nancy THOMPSON KIRLIN of IN. He may of had a brother David KIRLIN of IL.  There is a story he was killed on the Indian reservation and that he had a patent for the kirlin disc. Jana-Lee Bair

I would like to learn the death date and burial location for Emily Evens WATKINS (born 1831 Indiana) and Benjamin WATKINS (born 1828 Ohio).  Both of them are listed in the 1880 census in Hiawatha Twn, Brown, Kansas, and they are written up in 1883 in the History of Kansas, Brown County.  However, there is no sign of them in the 1900 census.  Thank you, Doug Watkins, Falmouth Maine.

Any information of James B. KEOUGH, his bride, Mamie (Mary A.) or her father, James K. JACKSON.
They were believed to lived in/near Holton in 1888-92 where both men were railroaders. Mamie died in January of 1892. It's likely that her father died in 1892-95 as well. He was "buried in the IOOF section of some cemetery" so was presumably a member. James Jackson was probably employed within the RR Depot. James Keough was a "section foreman" working for the C. R. ? & P railroad.
James K. Jackson's wife was Catherine and they had two other children, Emma and Sherman; both in late teens at the time. All of the survivors of this story ended up in Baker City, Oregon where Keough then married Emma, the second daughter. They are my grandparents.

He is my father but he died when I was very young and I have no knowledge of that side of my family. Any information would be appreciated greatly.

Swan (Sven) PETERSON b-April 5, 1838- married Christena Carolina  PETERSDOTTER b-June 4, 1848 -Married in Omaha NE on June 27, 1870.
Moved to Brown County Kansas near Hiawatha where there 2 boys were born: Carl Edward b-July 31, 1871, Peter Albert b-November 24, 1873.
Christena PETERSDOTTER's sister-Anna Lovisa PETERSDOTTER b-September 9, 1844 and her husband John Sjogren b-February 3, 1882  also lived in Brown County Kansas near Hiawatha during the same time frame.
Looking for information on their lives, information on the births of  Carl and Peter, Information on lifestyles, jobs, etc. Thank You

I am looking for the location of my grandfather's burial supposedly near Reserve, Ks., his name is Vincent FREDERICK, born in 1905 and died July 26, 1982. And also am wondering about the whereabouts of the burial of my great grandmother, Ella RODGERS (Vincent Frederick, Sr.'s wife; Gertrude Nettie Rodgers Frederick's mother), born in 1880s or early 1890s and died in the 1970s. She was married in 1911. I am not sure the burial is located in Brown County, it may be outside of Falls City, Neb. somewhere around on the border.

 I am not sure if some of my ancestors might be buried in the cemetery in Hiawatha.  Their names are David and Delia CANNADY.   They were both born around 1853 and were found to be residing in Hiawatha in the 1880 Census.  I know this is not much to work on, any information that might be found will be appreciated.  Please let me know what the fees are.  Thank you for your time and effort. I'm trying to find Nannie ADAMS - she died in 1956 was wife to Charles Adams I can't seem to locate them at all. I believe they are buried there in Hiawatha, Cem.  Thank you if you can help   Carol Jennings

We are trying to find the place where Henry CLARK died in 1849. He left Marietta, OH with the HARMAR CO. GROUP in the spring as part of the Gold Rush. We understand he died in Kansas in 1849 and would have been buried there. Any information will be appreciated. Roger Wilcox

I am looking for information on Grace Eaton WISEMAN.  She was the daughter of Benjamin EATON and Amelia FOX.  She married Richard Owen Wiseman in 1837 in Davie County, North Carolina. 
Richard died in 1870 in Jersey County, Illinois.  Grace was back in North Carolina in 1880 census but I found her living with her daughter and son-in-law, Henry and Sarah CARTNER in Irving, Brown, Kansas in the 1895 census.  She supposedly died 14 April 1902 in Brown County.  Also she was supposedly buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Hiawatha.  I do know that her above mentioned daughter and son in law are buried at Pleasant Hill.
I am looking for:
Confirmation of death date of Grace Eaton WISEMAN
Confirmation of burial place of Grace Eaton WISEMAN
Any descendents of Henry and Sarah C. (Wiseman) CARTNER

I am looking for information on Edwin ROUND and his son, Wayne ROUND.  Edwin's wife was Nettie Michael and she is my great aunt.  Edwin's name was in the telehone book for 1946 at Hiawatha.  Wayne graduated from Hiawatha High School.  At some point, Aunt Nettie and Uncle Ed moved to Pierce City, MO.  Wayne had many years in the Marines.  I have no birth or death dates for them.  I think Aunt Nettie and Uncle Ed are buried at Hiawatha but am not sure.  I don't know where Wayne is buried.  I am grateful for any information you can send me or let me know where I can look for information about them.

The 1880 Powhattan Tsp Census cites the following:
Page 7, SD 3, ED 18, Page 448, Dwelling 53, Family 55: 
OWEN, A, age 27, farmer – Wales/Wales/Wales
OWEN, Ella, age 17, wife – IL/NY/MA
According to the marriage records of Brown County, Ella YOUNG married Athelston Owen on 20 Nov 1878.
Ella OWEN may be the daughter of Hiram YOUNG and Elizabeth Esther STETSON (my great grandparents) who were also living in Powhattan at the time of the 1880 census. 
Athelston OWEN was a farmer.  I would appreciate it if someone would check the Brown County land records to determine whether he owned property in Brown County.  If so, please send copies of the documents.  If there are other records to check regarding these folks, would appreciate copies of these as well.
Would like to correspond with anyone following this family.

Harriet KIRKLAND b.1852 Ohio m.1869 William HAFLICH. By the 1880 census they were living in Walnut twp in Brown Co, Kansas.  I have found them in the 1900 census and their children in the 1910 census.  Their children were Gaylord b.1870 & William b.1872 in Ohio, the rest in Kansas - Nora, Cornelia (Nellie), Richard (James?), Edmund, Rolla, Izella? and Zola?.
 
I am looking for death & burial information about Hattie & William.

I am looking for any and all information, to include photos of gravestones if you can get them, for Alfred Edward McCorkle, my husband's great grandfather.  He died according to my records in 1972 and is buried at Rose Hill. Any information you can give me of him, his ancestors or his wife Myrtle Sarah Solomon  would be great. 
The other family I am looking for info on is George Krebs and Zelda Marie Lange, both of whom were born and died in Brown Co.  they are my husband's OTHER set of grandparents on his Mother Pansy Marie McCorkle's side.  Any info you can give me on any of these folks would help me tremendously.

John M. McGUIRE (ca 1819 KY- ca 1895 KS)
This John McGUIRE would likely be a grandson of Revolutionary War Patriot, John McGUIRE (1756 IR –1837 KY) and is also likely the son of John McGUIRE (ca 1784 VA(ky)- ca 1840 IN) and Lucy HENSLEY (ca 1782 VA(ky)- ca 1854 IN).
He married Esther EVANS (1815 –1839) in Owen County, IN.  Their daughter Alecia (1838- ca 1870 IA) married James OLDFIELD in KS before 1860.
John M. next married Margaret SKIDMORE (1823-) in 1842 still in Owen Co., IN.  They had children Paris  (1843-), Orinda (1845-), Lucy Ann (1846-), Harriet (1853-) and Wallace G. (1854-).  This family is in Walnut Creek, Brown Co., KS by the 1860 Census.
Before the 1870 census, still in Walnut Creek, Brown Co., KS, John has married Katherine (maiden name unknown) STEVENS.  There are STEVENS children in the family group.  John and Katherine have children: Martha E (1868-), William (1869-), Maggie (1873-) and Charles (1876-)
John is last recorded in the 1895 Kansas census.  Katherine and several married children are recorded in the Brown Co., KS area for many years.
This is not my direct line.  My 3G-Grandfather, Alfred McGUIRE (1808 KY-1870 IN) would be a brother to John M. if my assumptions are correct and I believe them to be so as guided by a DNA test of a male McGUIRE cousin showing direct descent from John (1756-1837).  I am investigating this line in hopes of locating evidence that would conclusively establish the parental ties between  John and Lucy HENSLEY McGUIRE to John M., Albert and other McGUIREs found in the Brown, Owen and Monroe Co., IN area from the early 1820’s.
As there appear to be very few online data sources for this area of  Kansas for this era, I really would appreciate any individual who might help me add to my knowledge of this family. Thank you, Terry L. Linthicum

I am looking for info on Mary Ann FOSTER born 28 January 1825, died 4 December 1906 & her husband John Washington B. STEELE born June 1816, died 27 November 1903, both died at Hiawatha, Brown County Kansas & buried at Hiawatha Cemetery in the family plot. Mrs Virginia Williams & Dr. Russell Steele have published family articles with photos. I am looking for any photos & other info that would be available & if available a copy of their publication. The STEELE's are my Great-Great Grandparents. I will gladly forward any expenses as necessary.

																						30 APR 1891 in   Leona,  Brown Co , Kansas. Do you know when he was born. I want to find the place that he was born in Norway.  

																					

																						I wonder if this Ole S Erickson was the same person as Ole  Ericson, "the founder of the settlement that stretches over the eastern part of Brown  and the western part of Doniphan Counties. He settled in the area between Everest and Leona in the 60s. The nearest marketplace were St. Joseph and Attchinson." From  'Nordmændene i Amerika' by Martin Ulvestad. 1907. 

																					

																						Gusta A Thompson was the sister of  Ben(diks) Thompson, who was my grandfather. Ben Thompsons' daugther,-my mother-,  was born in Robinson, Brown Co in 1902. This part of the family went back to Norway in 1907.  May be there still is a tombstone of  Ann  Thompson on the Øvre Wolf Congregration's graveyard, Robinson. She was the mother of Gusta A and Ben Thompson.

I would like to find the graves of Benjamin Watkins and his wife, Emily Evans Watkins.  They are listed as living in  Hiawatha Township, Brown County, Kansas in 1880 but do not appear in 1900.  Therefore, I believe that they died sometime after 1880, and my guess would be that they were buried in the Hiawatha Cemetery.

																					John H. SCHMUCKER & family came to Morrill, Brown, Kansas and appears on the 1900 and 1905 census with his wife and small family consisting of daughter Sadie SCHMUCKER. His DOD taken from the Brown Co Cemetery Index is about 07 Oct 1908 and his wife, Myra's DOD is 1917. 
I am looking for a marriage of Sarah or Sadie SCHMUCKER, sometime around 1905-1910, possibly later. Even though Myra died in 1917, I can't find her on the 1910 or 1915 census. Sadie is just gone, but she's a marriageable age.
Alternate spellings: Schmucker, Schumacher, Smucker, Smeucker. 
It's possible that Myra and John Schmucker got married in Morrill, Brown, Kansas sometime about 1898 -1899 after the death of his first wife and child in PA.  If somebody could check for a marriage record, it would be wonderful.

I am looking for information on Susan Phillips.  Her father name was Paul Phillips and they lived in Horton Ks around 1960’s.  I think she was born between 1954 and 1957.  They used to be our neighbor then moved away in the 60’s.  They moved back to Ks in 1972 when they lived in Hiawatha.  I have lost track of them in 1974.  Any help will be useful. We have a Maudie Howard born in 1885 to William and Amanda Howard in our family tree. Could this be the same Maudie?
