Biography
Family: I have been married to Leo Schwartz
for 44 years. Together we have two children and seven grandchildren.
We are business managers/partners of a diversified family farm.
Education: I graduated from Hanover High School and
received further education at Santa Ana Junior College and Cloud County
Community College.
Public Service: I have been
a Kansas House Representative for the 106th District for 8 years. I
have been a Member and Chair of Agriculture and Natural Resources Budget
Committee from 2000-2004. I am also a member of the Appropriations
Committee, the Environment Committee, and the
Joint Rules and Regulations Committee.
Outside the Legislature, I am currently a member of
the National Pork Producer Environment Committee, the National Pork Board
Environment Committee, the American Legislative Exchange Co.'s Agriculture and
Environment committee.
Awards: I received the
Local Government Outdoor Recreation Grant Program award in 2002. I was
a 4-H Leader for 20 years. I have been recognized as an Outstanding
Citizen by the Lions Club, received an Honorary American Farmer Degree, and
received Kansas State University's Block and Bridal Award. I was also
recognized as a Farm Bureau Woman Leader.
