Description Blue Rapids is located in southwest Marshall, [MS], county at the junction of the Little Blue River and the Big Blue River. Located on Highway US 77/K-9, Blue Rapids is 46 mi. north of Manhattan, KS, and 93 mi. south of Lincoln, NE.

History The Blue Rapids Town Company was formed in 1870. By the end of that year the population was about 250. In 1872 Blue Rapids was incorporated as a city of 3rd class under the statutes of Kansas. Blue Rapids has an interesting history including the mining of gypsum. Georgia-Pacific Corporation operates a gypsum mine and processing plant and is a major employer in Blue Rapids.

Recreation Riverside Park offers picnic and playground facilities. The public swimming pool, baseball fields, a roquet court, and an outdoor basketball court are also located at the park.

The Chamber of Commerce maintains an RV parking area at Riverside Park. The RV park has electrical services, water, and a dump station. Pet boarding is available at Prairie Valley Vet Clinic.

Tennis Courts are located at 5th and East Avenue. Elementary school playground equipment is at the same location.
