Genealogy

The collection of the Crawford County Genealogical Society is housed at the library and includes many resources for southeast Kansas. In addition to local resources, the Society now has a set of CD-ROMs containing family history information from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Completely staffed by volunteers, the Society's collection of genealogical resources is open for public use during the hours shown above.

The main site for the Crawford County Genealogical Society provides additional information about the collection and links to an index of obituaries found in the Pittsburg Morning Sun newspaper. Copies of obituaries found in the index may be requested at a cost of $5.00 each.

The Society asks that you request information in writing if you are unable to come to the library. You can email the Society at genealogy@pittsburg.lib.ks.us or send your inquiries and a SASE to the Crawford County Genealogical Society at the library's address at the top of the page.

Membership
You can join the Crawford County Genealogical Society by printing out a membership application and mailing it, along with your annual dues, to the Society at the address above.
