A. Open faced flowers.The outer parts are sepals or petals or a combination of sepals and petals or petal-like structures.

B. Open faced heads. Heads with ray flowers and disk flowers, or ray flowers, or disk flowers.

C. Pea flower. A flower with one large broad upper petal, two similarly shaped side petals, and two lower petals sometimes united. They resemble the garden pea.

D. Different flower.A flower that does not fit any of the previous descriptions.

II. Inconspicuous flowers. Flowers with small outer parts usually shorter than 1/4 inch.

A. Flowers in round clusters.

B. Flowers in long clusters
