(Registration begins 8:30 am Saturday June 28) -- Location: Emporia State University - Sponsored by ESU Center for Great Plains Studies, ESU Division of English & ESU College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. This event features award-winning
writers, timely topics on the publishing industry, a networking reception and individual critiques. The keynote speakers are Richard Uhlig, a Kansas native whose acclaimed first novel, Last Dance at the Frosty Queen, was inspired by his high school
years in Herington, and Phillip Finch, a verteran author and journalist whose forthcoming book is Raising the Dead, a true story about a cave diving tragedy. Other speaker include NY Times bestselling author Antonia Felix; travel writer Julianne
Couch; Max McCoy; and Don Coldsmith.

National Book Festival – Sponsored by the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress – Location: National Mall, Washington
DC, 101 Independence Ave. SE, Washington DC, 20540-4020 -- The Center for the Book in the Library of Congress has confirmed Saturday, September 27, 2008 as the date for the 2008 National Book Festival. It will again be on the National Mall in
Washington DC from 10:00am through 5:00pm. This year the available space has been diminished from seven blocks to four due to the National Park Service "re-seeding" of grass on the Mall. Details of pavilions on site, programs, and other issues
relating to the National Book Festival are being discussed.
