Focused Conversations Checklist

2. Identify no more than 7 people. Include at least 2 that you don't know, and 2 backups. (See Worksheet 5A.)
3. Choose location and time; arrange for treats; arrange for a note-taker.
4. Prepare the invitation (letter or phone call).
5. Invite.
6. Be prepared; warm up; call facilitator(s) to confirm the plan.
7. Start on time.
8. Begin by repeating the invitation and thanking them.
9. Ask everyone to introduce themselves by telling their name and how long they have lived in your community.
10. Ask the first question.
11. Listen carefully; take notes (note-taker).
12. Use follow-up questions based on what the participants say.
13. Use additional prepared questions -- only if needed.
