Band Classes

Band- this course is for all students who have an interest in playing instruments.

Jazz Band- a course in which you have to audition for where you play more complex music.

Vocal Classes

X-pressos- this is a course which you need to audition for. In this class you sing and dance on many occasions.

Men's chorale- a course for only boys.

Les Chantes Choir- a course for girls only.

Black and Gold Choir- a mixed chorale of boys and girls



New Classes for 2007-2008

Music Appreciation- The course will provide the student(9-12) with an understanding of the aesthetics of music. It is designed to broaden a student's knowledge and awareness of musical styles and genre in the fine arts. Research, writing, and listening skills will be learned and enhanced. This course qualifies as a fine arts credit for graduation. The district will pursue Kansas Board of Regents approval for this course.

Music Theory- This course is designed for students(11-12) who are considering a career pathway in music. This study of the structure of music will include cord structure, key signatures, circle of fifths, and beginning composition. Knowledge gained in this course could provide the opportunity to test out of Theory I if the student chooses to study music in college.
