Darin Newsom: Darinn@fcstone.com
I just found the web page for Lewis' alumni and thought I would add my name to the list. After "graduating" in '83, it took me many years of extensive psychotherapy to recover from the deep emotional and psychological scars inflicted upon me in Senior Math. Some would say that I never recovered, pointing to the fact that I went into the commodities trade. These days I am married to Linda, have two kids Rebecca and Benjamin, and am living in Great Bend. I'm still in the commodities to a degree, I am now a marketing consultant for FCStone out of Kansas City. Although I am the only person in the office, there are still times when I am hit by severe flashbacks and hit the floor, dodging unseen projectiles hurled at me by angry teachers. As they say, the more things change, the more they stay the same.
The references to flying projectiles and senior math concern incidents I (Kris Waldren) brought on during my first year of teaching at Lewis, Darin had the misfortune to fall into my Advanced Math class that year -- I must say that under Mr. Wood's superior teaching the department has picked up considerably! Darin on the other hand does remain a favorite memory and student -- if you see me chuckling to myself at odd times it may be a memory of the Class of 1983!
