Jason Galyardt: jgalyardt@hotmail.comSeptember 2001 -- Well, for those that I haven't talked too in a long while, I am currently living in Longmont, Colorado with my wife Amirina working at a company called Maxtor. Amirina and I were married on May 27, 2000 in Kinsley, KS. We met at Cross Manufacturing in 1998 and the rest went from there. We went to Florida and the Bahamas for our honeymoon. It was a blast. Though I didn't quite expect the sea water to be so salty! Yuk! We moved to Wichita, KS so I could look for a job after graduating from Fort Hays State University in May, 2000, but I didn't have much luck. So I interviewed for a job at Maxtor and they moved us out here to Longmont (north of Denver 30 miles) in July, 2000. We lived in an apartment till this summer when we bought a house in north Longmont. It's a tri-level, 3 bedroom, 1-and-half baths, with a nice backyard and a 2 car garage. That will be nice when it decides to snow here in a few weeks. The Rocky mountains are about 30 minutes from Longmont so we have a great view. Also, Amirina and I are expecting our first baby in December. December 26th is the due date. We are very excited and scared. I am spending the week painting and setting up the nursery for the little one. I can't wait to be a father! Sounds weird though.
About my job at Maxtor. I am a Firmware Engineer (though I never took an engineering class). In other words, I troubleshoot computer systems with our hardware. Maxtor makes computer hard drives so part of my job is to test our drives with various computer systems and operating systems. It's fun and I have learned a lot. I get to play with prototype hardware and software.Jeannie Hinman: jeannie_hinman@hotmail.com
Jeannie is now in Texas where she accepted a teaching position. Texas, Colorado and Missouri for this class -- does anyone stay home anymore???Jennifer Johnson Leon: jjleon2000@yahoo.com
I wanted to add my information on the alumni page and understand you are the person to contact. Well here goes.....
I moved from Hays to Topeka in June 2001 when my husband Chris got a job working for the KS Dept. of Human Resources as a Computer Programmer. I continued my education at FHSU via virtual college (a lot of internet and video classes - you have to be very determined to finish that way - i know from a fact). We lived in Topeka until February 2003 when Chris excepted a job in Wichita working for AgVantis (a division of Farm Credit Bank) as a Sr. Computer Programmer Analyst. I moved to Wichita in June after completing my internship with the Juvenile Justice Authority in Topeka. It was very tough living in 2 places paying 2 of EVERYTHING but we finally united in June! I work for a company called WeatherData, a commercial weather company that provides services to manufacturing companies, universities, etc. I am the Marketing Manager for the company and even though i am not using my degree in Criminal Justice I love my job very much and am very happy there. Our website is www.weatherdata.com and keep checking back - there will be a lot of changes to the website now that i am in the drivers seat .
On a much more serious note I have been battling some health issues that some of you may be aware of. I had surgery April 28, 2003 (a day i will never forget) to remove cancer from my small intestine. Unfortunately i have been battling these problems for 2 years and nobody was able to find anything until i moved to Wichita and started all over with new tests and new doctors. The doctors are confident they were able to remove all of the cancer but i will have more test to follow just to be on the safe side. I will begin chemo on June 16th and should not get sick or lose my hair (that is a plus). I have a very positive attitude about this and truly belive i will beat it - you cant get rid of me that easily!
Chris and I have no children and will probably wait several more years before we start our family but enjoy the time we get to spend with our beautiful nieces.
I loved getting my education at Lewis High School and could not of received a better education anywhere else. I truly hope the school does not close or consolidate because i would love for my nieces to get the same quality education that i was so lucky to receive. Keep it up teachers and staff.
My email address is jleon@weatherdata.com or jjleon2000@yahoo.com so somebody email me and let's catch up.

Jason is continuing his education (he graduated from Bethany last spring) -- you can tell by the email address he is at the KU Med Center -- medical school -- don't suppose he has much time for emails but would think he might enjoy a note of encouragement from time to time!
