Class of 1996

10 Year Reunion -- May 28, 2006 -- Schroeders' Home

Herb Cooper
FINALLY heard from Herb about three weeks ago -- that was a nice thing

About to graduate from Sterling College -- continuing on saving the world medically -- despite heavy burnout -- don't know when that man will learn to burn his candles at only one end!

Look forward to seeing him later this spring if he can swing by Lewis

January 2005: Thought it was time for an update . . . I got into nursing school at KU, so I am living in Kansas City, KS, and am both working and going to school at KUMed. I just finished my first semester and have a year and a half to go. I like it so far but there is still so much to learn. :)

Sad to hear that Lewis is inching closer to consolidation. I know it's
only a "temporary" arrangement, but it seems to me that once you take
that step forward, there will be no turning back . . .

Speaking of school, our 10 year reunion isn't so far away anymore . . .
hopefully everyone is interested in getting together in some way or
another . . . I'd be glad to hear from anyone with any ideas! :)

Hope everyone is doing well and I wish you all the best in the new
year!

January 2003: But I guess I should first remind you - and everyone of else of who I am. Matej Gadomsky is my name and the Goodman's family was kind enough to put me up for one year while I experienced the Student Exchange Program at Lewis High School. I graduated with Matt, Herb, Menny, Aaron, Petra of Germany, Alicia, John (or Juan :), Lesley and definitely with many others...sorry if I do not remember all the names :)) I just found this page as I was looking for the ZIP of Lewis -I'm just redesigning my CV to apply for a better job. Anyway, after returning home I spent 5 years at Comenius Univerisity here in Bratislava, Slovakia studying at the Faculty of Management, the last two years specializing in Human Resource Management. I got finally done in August 2001 and right away accepted an offer from PricewaterhouseCoopers - one of the infamous audit firms (although we did not do anything wrong :)). I'm working as a HR Consultant - providing recruitment services to our clients, working on remuneration surveys and offering ad hoc HR Advisory. It's an interesting work, but one that requires long hours and could be more interesting if Slovakia was not such a small country with small businesses :)

:)) I just found this page as I was looking for the ZIP of Lewis -I'm just redesigning my CV to apply for a job at European Union - you guys are aware that we have just been invited to join, right ? :))

After my December 2002 journey to SE Asia, Africa remains the only continent I have yet to conquer. I really enjoy travelling but saving up enough in Slovakia is just not possible. :( I have actually gone back to the States three times, twice on a summer exchange program (worked in Virginia and Colorado) and I spent the 2000/2001 winter in Copper Mnt, Co skiing and later riding my life away... Great time I had but this fulltime employment of past 15 months just does not go along with all my travel dreams. But I guess that's a struggle everyone has to go through... and find priorities.. right Mrs. Waldren ? Maybe I'll just dump the job and go riding again in Colorado next winter. Who knows....

I'm glad to see MR Wood still teaching trigonometry and calculus ( and of course solving any student revolts purely with his appearance, just like our try not to return to class and remain lying on the gym floor...:))) and Mr Carey taking care of all the history classes. I still value his American History as one of the top classes I ever took...

Please say hello to everyone from me, although I see you, Mrs. Waldren in the "Teachers that left" column... I'm sure you are staying in touch.

Matej "The Slovakian Nightmare" Gadomsky

PS Is there anything like a class reunion after 5 or 10 years ?? Did I already miss one ??

Petra Lusch

Visited with Petra at a football game this past fall (she was visiting the US, with a really nice friend) -- she looked wonderful and seemed to be glowing with enthusiasm for life

April 2005: I'm still in Dodge City Recently just took A job at the school district as a computer Tech.  I really enjoy it, prior to that I was a Patient billing manager at Medical Heights Medical Center DR Win and Kyi, for almost 4 years.  Big Job change but the pay is so much better, and I don't have to put up with mad patients all the time,  Now just mad teachers!!!!  I'm opening my Floral Shop (Creative Creations) May 1st,  a lot to do between now and then.  I've been working on this for about a year now,  I started getting phone calls from people after making a few arrangements for the Dr's around town making really good money on the side so decided to open up my own business.

Juan Ramirez: silverboyjr@hotmail.com

Is now fully employed as a teacher in the Dodge City School District -- congratulations, Juan! Know he is doing a good job. Keep up with him through occasional emails and have his sister Lulu in general science.

Lesley Schroeder: glp12@hotmail.com

November 2003: Lesley has recently completed a move to California -- where else would a great screen writer want to live? She recently reported a change of address to Van Nuys. Send her an email and get an update -- that is if she wants to hear from you.

Matt Waldren: mswaldren@yahoo.com

May 2006: Living in Madison, Wisconsin working on his Ph.D. (in philosophy) at the University of Wisconsin. Married, living happily ever after.
