Class of 2002

October 2003: Things are going pretty well here in Manhattan.  I've begun work on my Philosophy degree this semester--I'm taking History of Ancient Philosophy and dealing with the short remnants of actual text that survive from the selected authors.  Zeno is extremely interesting, though it's difficult to get around his arguments (they appear to be logically sound, but it still doesn't explain why I can walk to and arrive at class in the morning).  I'm still in History as well, so I'm busy with two majors right now.  I have abandoned Spanish for the moment, deciding instead to fill my BA language requirement with German, which will benefit my degrees much better.  Ja, ich spreche ein bisschen Deutsch.

I'm rooming here in Goodnow Hall, which is literally just a stone's throw from last year's haunt, Marlatt.  The difference here is that it's two wings of girls to one of guys.  As nice as that sounds, nothing's happening about it just yet.  I've made a lot of new friends so far, while keeping in touch--I'll use that term loosely--with those I made last year and even those 10-15 years ago.  I've gotten involved in a few groups, or at least plan to (there are first-of-the-year meetings for a couple of them just this week): Individuals for Freethought, Chess Club, and German Club.  It's been a nice experience thus far.
