Mr. Geissert was married in 1868 to Mrs. Elizabeth Ringwold, her first husband died in the Civil War and left her with four children. Elizabeth Ringwold Geissert died of cholera in 1867 and her four children were cared for by relatives In 1873, Mr. Geissert married Katie Mocker who was born in Wurtemberg, Germany, on September 25, 1852. Her father was a shoemaker and he and his wife were consistent members of the Presbyterian Church Lewis and Katie Geissert were the parents of seven children. They were: Maggie, George, Andrew, who married Miss Blanche Steward, Louis, Adam, William and Charles. Three of these children are still surviving, they are: George of Strong City, Kansas; Louie and William both of Minneapolis, Kansas. Mr. Geissert was a Democrat but in 1900 he cast his ballot in favor of McKinley. In 1901, Lewis and Katie Geissert purchased a home in. Bennington where they lived out their remaining years. He was the school treasurer and he and his family were active members of the Presbyterian Church. Andrew and Blanche Steward Geissert were the parents of five children.
