NEADERHISER FAMILY HISTORY

Fredrick and John Neaderhiser came to Stark County, Ohio, from Switzerland with their parents and other brothers and sisters in 1867, coming on to Kansas in 1875, settling near Manchester. In 1885, Fredrick married Mary Wolfe and settled in Ottawa County, Ottawa township. John married Nellie Eisenhauer about the same time and the brothers lived on adjoining 80 acre places.

To Fredrick and Mary were born five children: Wilbur, John, Elmer, Fred and Lillian ; Wilbur passed away in 1907. Fredrick and Mary moved to Manchester in 1910, where they resided until their death; he in 1935 and his wife in 1940

John and his wife, Cora, lived on his parents farm until her death. Two children, Merle and Esther, were born to them. in 1920, John married Ruth Taylor; to this union were born five children: Warren, William, John, Jr. Emma Jean and Zona. They lived in the same community about one mile north. of the old home. John, Jr died at birth. Merle, with his wife, Bess, and daughter, Pamela, liver near the old home. Esther,  Mrs. Leonard Reed, with her husband, one son, Randy, and daughter, Janice, live in Salina another daughter Linda, Mrs. Russell Myers, her husband and son, Sean, live in Manhattan. Warren, his wife, Margaret, and daugnters, Coleen, Diane, Nancy and Darlene, live on the farm where John and Ruth raised the family. One son, Keith, lives in Wichita. William, his wife, Jean, one daughter, Shirley, and one son, Steven  live on a farm near Bennington. Emma Jean Brown and daughter, Cheryl, live in Wichita. Zona, Mrs. Joe Clennan, her husband, one son, Kelly, and one daughter, Kimberly, live in Hastings, Nebraska.

John and Ruth moved to Bennington in July of 1946. John passed away in April, 1955; Ruth lives in Bennington where she is cook at the school. John was active in township and county activities over a long period of years

Elmer married Emma Taylor in 1912 and started housekeeping in the general area of his parents' farm, moving to the home place in 1919 where they lived until moving to Bennington in January of 1947 where they still reside. One son, Verle, was born to Elmer and Emma. Verle, his wife, Mable, and son, Larry, live on the old home place. This is the original 80 acres where Fredrick and Mary started housekeeping after their marriage in 1885.

Fred and his wife, Grace, and daughter, Shirley, lived in Manchester until Grace passed away. In 1920 Fred married Nellie Blatchford and soon moved to the farm where they raised their family and still reside. This farm borders the original 80 acre home place on the west. Five children were born to them: Olive, Norman, Wilbur, Mary and Melvin. Olive passed away in 1936. Norman, his wife, Phyllis, and son, Westley, live on a farm near Mt. Vernon, Missouri. Wilbur, his wife, Twila, three daughters, Barbara, Janet and Robin, live in Lyons. Mary, Mrs. Kenneth Elvers and her husband live in Denver, Colorado. Melvin, his wife, Catherine, and daughters, Linda and Jo Ann, live on a farm near his father. Melvin is a rural mail carrier out of Niles. Shirley, Mrs. Bill Madill, her husband and daughters, Janice and Lori, live in New York City, New York.

Lillian, Mrs. Roy Runnalls, lived at Verdi and Bennington until her passing on September, 1960. Lillian and Roy had one daughter, Rowena, who died in 1935, and two sons: Gary who with his wife, Sally, and son, Randy, live at Wilson; Roger who lives with his father in Abilene.

To John and Nellie were born five sons: John, Ben, Louis, Francis and Charles (Jack), and five daughters: Mable, Rose, Louise, Rachel and Eva. While the family was growing up they moved about two miles farther east from their original home, later moving to Manchester. Ben and Louis, now deceased, Francis, Rose (Mrs. Blatchford), Louise (Mrs. Neal), Rachel (Mrs. Werner), and Eva never lived in Ottawa County after establishing homes of their own. Charles (Jack) lives in Longford, but is well known over Ottawa County as being a successful painter. He and his wife, Ada, have a son, Robert, of Abilene, and a daughter, Sandy Kitchner, of Manhattan. John married Sara Trott and lived for many years on a farm near the east edge of the county. He now lives in Longford; his wife, Sara, passed away in November of 1963. They had two sons, Harold, and his family of Des Moines, Iowa, and Evan, his wife and son of Salina . Evan is one of the well known custom combine operators of this area. Mable, Mrs. Patrick Riley, and her husband live in Salina Mable and Pat lived for many years on the farm where she grew up. They have two daughters, Eyvonve, Mrs. Jim Spites, her husband and three children, Pat, Bill and Ramona,
