Mr. Adam Von Reh and wife, Anna Marie (Wagner) Reh, left Hetzaroth, Germany, by boat in 1880 to bring their family to America. They had three sons: Peter, John, and Matthew; and three daughters: Barbara, Maggie and Anna.

They landed in New York in June of 1880 and came directly to Salina They lived there two months, then moved to Ottawa County and bought and settled on a farm four miles west of Bennington where Leslie Reh now lives.

Their home was in a grove of trees along Buffalo Creek and they expected fruit to appear on the trees, as all their trees in Germany where they lived bore fruit. When no fruit appeared, they learned they were living under elm trees.

Once the creek flooded badly; the waters became violent, rolling and rushing ii a rapid stream, like a torrent. Adam tried to get his family to higher ground with a team and wagon, but the water was rising so rapidly they had to turn back. Fortunately the waters receded before anything was destroyed.

Adam Reh applied for his naturalization papers, but died in 1882 before they were processed, Barbara married Mathais Werner in 1883 and settled on the farm adjoining the Reh farm to the south.
Maggie married Anthony Schuler on February 28, 1889. Anna married Will Breithaupt

The Drakes have a son, Loren, who married Delma McGeary and they have a son, Larry. Their daughter, Lela, married John Boggs and their daughter is Janelle.

Carl Adam Reh married Emma Burger and settled on their farm a mile south of his father's home. It is just across the road east of the original Adam Reh farm.

They had twin daughters Agnes and Mildred. Agnes became Mrs. Leonard Kuhlmann and they live in Jennings, Kansas. They have two daughters, Norlene and Wanda.

Norlene. married Nevell Razak and lives in Lawrence and they have a son, Scott, and a daughter, Renate.

Reh farm in the house Carl built in 1940.

George Reh married Letha Bailey and settled on his father's place, his father and mother having moved to Bennington.

They had two sons, Robert, killed in action in the Phillipines in World War 11, and Max, killed in a car accident after serving in Africa and Italy in World War II. These sons had married sisters, Margaret and Madge Cans, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Cans.
