Sherd Boss, son of King Boss, lived his entire life in Bennington He was caretaker of the
Bennington Cemetery until his health failed him a few years ago. His wife, Madge (Struble) still
resides here. They have two daughtets, Tryphena (Mrs. Tom Gorse) and Arlowyne (Mrs. Harvey
Hinkle). They both live in Salina Kansas

John Boss, son of Noah, was born in an Indian stockage between Bennington and Minneapolis. He married Rose Webb and they had five children, Glenn, John T. (Ted), who lives at Minneapolis, Raymond, Joy and Burt.

Glenn Boss, son of John, married Ruth Heywood, (deceased 1956) daughter of E. I. and Martha (Austin) Heywood. They had seven children, Keith (deceased 1961), Bob, Velda, Mae, Max, Don and Harley Ray (deceased).
Glenn farmed most of his life and also ran the Boss Dairy in the 1940's delivering milk in  Bennington.  In 1958 and he and his son, Don, formed the Boss Construction  and built 5 new homes in  the new Memorial Addition to Bennington.  He lived in one of them until his death in 1964.

Keith (deceased 1961) married Geraldine Baldock, Lamar, Kansas, in 1947. They have three children, Pamela (Mrs. Denny Baker), Randy and Chad. One granddaughter, Lisa Baker.

Velda married Wayne Baugh, son of Ernest and Pearl Baugh, in 1944. They have four children, Gary, Dean, Sonya and Lisa and now reside in Monument, Colorado.

Mae married Cloyd Fox in 1948. They have three children, Steven, Melinda and Kevin and are living in Westminster, Colorado.

Bob married Edna Nelson, Ada, Kansas, in 1946. They have three children, Barbara, Patricia and Robert. Bob farms and lives in the Bennington Community near Niles, Kansas.

Max married Annabelle Quinn, Bennington, Kansas, in 1949. They have five children, Nancy, Marsha, Sondra, Edward and Timothy. Max farms and they live on the Quinn place three miles east of Bennington.

Don married Donna Bradbury, Minneapolis, Kansas, in 1948. They have two children, Kenneth and Linda. Don is now owner of the Boss Construction and does carpenter work in the Bennington and surrounding communities. They live in Bennington in the home formerly owned by E. I. and Martha Heywood.

ARTHUR BROOM FAMILY

Arthur Broom and wife came to America from England in The early 1870's They settled in New York and made their home there. Tragedy beset the family when Mrs. Broom and two small children died of scarlet fever.

Mr. Broom later married his deceased wife's sister, Mary Elizabeth, in 1878. The couple and two sons by his first wife came to Kansas and resided at Dover, Kansas. Here five more children were born; later the family made their home in Topeka. In 1902, the family came to Ottawa County settling on a farm five miles east of Bennington. In 1905, the mother passed away, her funeral was the first to be held in the newly built Episcopal Church.

In 1911, Mr. Broom and family took up residence in Bennington where he was custodian of the the city school.

His daughter, Edith, married Ervie Cole and they lived their entire lives in or near Bennington'.
Mr. Cole passed away., Two other daughters, Annie and Lizzie, married Earl Bozarth and Mort
Garrison, respectively. A son, Will Broom, taught school in Minneapolis several years and later
served as clerk of Salina's City Court till his death in 1964. He was married to Lavina Beichley. Another son, Will, was united in marriage to Grace Rockhold.
