Gen. Info.
The City of Bentley has a Mayor-Council form of government, with all governing body positions being elective. General elections take place every two years in April (of odd-numbered years), with three of the five council members being elected and/or two council members and the mayor position being elected. They serve four year terms of office. If more than two candidates seek a position, then a primary election is offered.
City Council meetings are open to the public, and take place at 7:30 p.m. in Bentley City Hall the second Thursday of each month.
All other city officials are appointed annually by the Mayor, with city council approval. City employees include a city clerk, a city treasurer, a wastewater/maintenance supervisor and a water system supervisor. In addition, this council oversees the city- financed departments of Volunteer Fire Department, Volunteer Emergency Medical Services Department, Recreation Committee, and Planning Commission.
