Emergencies
- In Bentley, DIAL 911 for sheriff, ambulance or fire emergencies. Bentley is in the Sedgwick County Fire District #l. In addition, the city has a volunteer fire department and a volunteer emergency medical services rescue department, both of which are always looking for new members. If you are interested in training to help with emergency services, inquire at City Hall.
City Warning System
- The City of Bentley has an emergency warning system to warn citizens of the threat of tornadoes, severe weather or the threat of attack. The same system is also utilized when needed for local fire alarms. The warning system is a siren which gives a distinct warbling or rotating sound for attack, or a long shrill sound for tornadoes. These warnings last approximately 2 1/2 minutes each. When used as a fire call signal, the siren is a brief warble tone. The warning system is tested each Monday at noon, except for holidays or during inclement weather.
Voter Registration
- Citizens may register to vote at the city office in Bentley City Hall. Voter registration cards may be completed on site or taken for later completion. A person who has moved, changed their name, turned 18 or failed to vote in the last two general elections should register to vote.
Election Polling Location
- All elections in Bentley, including city elections, school district or state or national races, take place in Bentley City Hall on specified election dates. The polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voting is done by electronic casting. For more information, please contact the Sedgwick County Election Commissioner at 383-7101.
City-Owned Utilities
- The City of Bentley owns and operates a public water system and a public wastewater system. While it is mandatory to be connected to the sewer system inside the city limits, being connected to the water system is still optional, although nearly two-thirds of the households are hooked up to municipal water.
Paying City Bills
- Bills for city-provided services may be paid at Bentley City Hall, the Bentley Bank, or by mail to the City of Bentley, P.O. Box 273, Bentley KS 67016 . There is also a convenient utility drop slot at city hall, just north of the main entrance.
Bentley City Hall
- The City of Bentley is proud of its City Hall, which was completed by volunteers in 1 995. The back portion of the building serves as a shop/garage area for the city maintenance and emergency vehicles. The front part includes a large office, meeting room with kitchen, restrooms and a small workroom. The meeting area is available to rent by area families and groups. Inquire at city hall about rental rates.
