The Blue Rapids Historical Society has produced two videos profiling the community.   Available in DVD format, the videos can be purchased at the State Bank of Blue Rapids or the Mercantile. The first video, "Blue Rapids, Our Proud Heritage for 135 Years, 1870-2005", profiles the community as it looked in 2005.  A limited number of copies in VHF formal are still available.

The newest video, "Blue Rapids, Gem City, The Early Years" provides a history of the community from the 1870s to WWI.

A video is currently being made of the "largest cottonwood in Kansas" which stood on the west side of the fairgrounds for more than 100 years until July of 2006.   The historical society is also working on a video of Blue Rapids history from WWI to WWII.  If you have photos, stories, recipes, or other memorabilla from that time period or pictures/stories about the cottonwood tree contact Pat Osborne, 410 W 6th St., Blue Rapids, KS  66411. Contact the historical society soon to get your imformation included in the new videos.  Members of the society will travel limited distances to with a camera to videotape oral histories and stories.
