YMCA Camp for 80 years. Features group camping facilities and
programs. 630 acres of native grassland, 19 acre lake and Cottonwood
River provide recreation and educational opportunities for kids

Clements
Stone Arch Bridge
14 miles West of Strong City on Hwy 50 to Clements, then 1 1/2
miles South
One of very few double arch bridges left, built across the Cottonwood
River in 1886
Diamond Creek Bridge
1/2 mile West off Hwy 50 at the curve North of Elmdale, Kansas
on County Road
One of the last remaining stone arch bridges in Chase County,
featuring double arches of different sizes. Very rare.
First Chase County Jail
One block West of Broadway on Main Street. (620) 273-8500
Considered a Cowboy Jail, the stone building was used to house
prisoners before the Chase County CourtHouse was finished in
1883.
Flint Hills Rodeo Arena
One block East of intersection of Cottonwood Street and K-50
in Strong City, KS
Site of annual PRCA
Rodeo, oldest consecutively run professional rodeo in Kansas.
Held annually on the first full weekend (Fri., Sat., and Sun.)
in June

by the Rainbow Garden Club, now a part of the TallGrass
Prairie National Preserve
Orient Railroad Grade
South of Matfield Green on Hwy 50, visible on the South side

Pioneer Bluffs
16 miles South of Cottonwood Falls on K-177, 1 mile North of
Matfield Green on K-177
Until recently a ranching operation in the same family since
1847. PRIVATE PROPERTY
Roniger Indian Memorials
East at Bazaar SchoolHouse, atop the hill to the SouthEast. Visual
only from SchoolHouse: two pointed monoliths built by the Roniger
Brothers to honor the Indian Encampments in this area. On PRIVATE
PROPERTY - no access.
Rural Kansas
A two-mile area in the general vicinity of 10-12 miles South
of Cottonwood Falls, Kansas on K-177
No evidence of settlement remains. Had its own post office from
1896 to 1902.

Some of Kansasís First Republican Party meetings were

Santa Fe Railroad Depot
Downtown Strong City, KS
Built in 1913
Section House
Matfield Green
Built in the mid 1920's, the bunk house housed railroad workers
and their families until the 1950's. Restoration began in 2002.
By invitation only.
Sharpe's Creek Drive East at Bazaar Schoolhouse,
7 miles South of Cottonwood Falls
Take this scenic remote rural drive through the Flint Hills on
gravel roads, ending at Matfield Green. Note: adjoining lands
are PRIVATE PROPERTY.
