It was the lot of Fairview #56 to become a part of the Elk City district, the date of its final dissolution and attachment was March 1, 1946. Seventy-five years earlier, on July 5, 1871, the final action on its organization was taken in the home of H. Sears.
Its school did not get started that fall, but by autumn of 1872 the eligibles of the thirty-six reported on its census came to the new school. It was located on a acre of land purchased from Mr. Allen Painter and wife for the sum of $3.50. the date of the deed was July 16, 1883. By 1889-90 the enumerator found fifty-seven persons aged five to twenty-one residing within the district. Enrollment fell however and the year of 1945-46 saw Mrs. Willard Evans teaching six children. The following year they were a part of the Elk City District #11 by action of the county reorganization committee.
