The fire protection is through our local volunteer fire department,
which is the McPherson County Fire District #9. Ten up-to-date fire
trucks are used to respond to fires and medical emergencies. Of the 30
volunteers, six are EMT's and three are First Responders. The fire
department is dispatched through the county dispatcher by calling 911. Equipment
Our three tankers hold 6,000 gallons of water. We have two 750 gallons per minute and one 500 gallons per minute
pumpers, five quick attack fire trucks that each carry 300-500 gallons of water.
The rescue truck is equipped with JAWS, air bags, portable generator, AED.
ISO rating March 2004,we were able to lower our ISO to a 6/10 rating.
This means anyone who lives 5 miles from our main station or substation is rated as a 6.
This was lowered from an 8/10 just a few years ago. Anyone farther than 5 miles is a 10 rating.
These ratings were lowered by being tested from a representative of ISO on our ability to supply water in our district
at 250 gallons per minute for two hours continually at different residences and businesses.
ISO also checked pump testings, hose testings, hydrant testings, training records, dump tank and pumping
times, drafting times, hydrant hook up times, water records, and truck maintance.
