Easter Egg Hunt
- Each year, on the Saturday before Easter, Gaylord PRIDE and the Gaylord
Commercial Club join forces to hide bags of candy in the playground of the
old school.
Memorial Day
- Memorial Day is the annual Alumni Weekend. The local American Legion
provides the Memorial services at three area cemeteries.
Watermelon Day
Gaylord has become known as the "Watermelon City" and people from miles
around gather on Labor Day weekend to celebrate Watermelon Day. A Sunday
morning church service is held in the City Park followed by a pot-luck
dinner in the Community Center to begin the festivities. Monday morning,
a parade is held followed by a hometown carnival with booths, games, and Bingo.
Musical entertainment goes on in the park all day. Free watermelon is served
to all at noon.
Veterans Day
- Veterans Day weekend coincides with the opening of pheasant season so the
American Legion Auxiliary serves a bountifiul turkey and dressing evening meal
with homemade pies for the hunters but the entire communities from the area
turn out for this annual event.
Santa Comes to Town
- Saint Nick comes to the Gaylord Community Center each year on the Saturday
before Christmas bringing gifts for all the children and drawings for prizes
provided by local businesses. It's another joint project of the Gaylord
Commercial Club and Gaylord PRIDE.
