Goessel Community-wide Garage Sales

        Annually the 2nd Saturday in June and again in conjunction with the Goessel Harvest Festival on Oct. 1, 2011.  Come and hunt for those hard to find treasures and bargains.  The thrill of the hunt is half the fun!!

 



37th Annual Country Threshing Days  Aug. 5, 6 & 7, 2011



             Line up along Main Street on Saturday, Aug. 6 at 10:00 for one of the most interesting parades in Kansas.  The parade features antique tractors, cars and a variety of floats and other entries.  After the parade is over, head over to the Goessel Elementary School for some ethnic German food or grab a bite to eat on the Show grounds.

            Come and learn how Mennonite Immigrants came to Central Kansas in 1874, admire antiques, listen to the sound of the windmill as you stroll through the museum grounds and visit the Immigrant House and Turkey Red Wheat Palace where artifacts from those early households and farms, are displayed. Other buildings include: the Krause House, South Bloomfield School, Schroeder Barn, Goessel Preparatory School, Goessel State Bank, and the Friesen House. Mennonite Heritage and Agricultural Museum 

            Other events presented by the Wheat Heritage Engine & Threshing Company, include threshing, baling, plowing, sawmill demonstrations, toy displays, small engines, old gas & oil field engines, steam engines and tractors, antique farm machinery exhibits and concludes with an antique tractor pull on Sunday afternoon.  For more information and a schedule of events visit www.wheatco.org  - admission charged


 

Goessel Harvest Festival – Oct. 1, 2011

           The organizers of the first Harvest Festival envisioned a time when the community could come together for an evening of music and fellowship outdoors in the heart of Goessel on Main Street.  Since then the organizers have included city wide garage sales, a car show, radio-control airplane demonstrations, a pumpkin carving contest and various food vendors.
