Activity Center

The Activity Center is a combined facility; the space is shared by the
USD and the Rec Commission. The biggest part is the gym, in the
center of the building, with its walking track on the upper level.
Other parts of the building house the Hoisington Recreation Commission
office, with space for exercise and other programs, plus a wellness
center and hand-ball court. Plus it houses the USD 431 activity
director, along with offices for many of the school coaches and the
central kitchen. The lower level has a weight-lifting room and
locker rooms.
A community room is available for family reunions, fund-raiser dinners
and so forth.
Baseball & Softball
Sports Complex

This all new baseball complex features seven baseball diamonds complete
with grass infields. A variety of leagues keep the complex busy
from early spring until late fall. Handicap accessible.

Located just east from the high school football/track complex, the
Cardinal Lanes is a popular spot for kids and adults. Owners:

Golf
- Lake Barton Golf Club (620) 653-4255
The beautiful Lake Barton Golf Club is an 18-hole, grass green course
laid out over rolling hills. Surrounded by an abundance of large
trees and water, it is landscaped to provide an enjoyable environment
in which to play. Lake Barton is located south of Hoisington on
U.S. 281 and is a favorite spot for Hoisington and Great Bend
residents.
Horseshoe Pitching

The Bicentennial Sports Complex also includes lighted horseshoe pits, a
great shelter house and restrooms. Handicap accessible.
Outdoors
- Cheyenne Bottoms Southeast of Hoisington
If it has to do with birds, it will be found at Cheyenne Bottoms.
Twice yearly the area is home to the endangered whooping cranes during
migration. The core area of the bottoms has been enlarged through
the efforts of The Nature Conservancy.
Wilson Lake 55 miles Northeast of Hoisington
Fishing, boating and water skiing are all available at nearby Wilson
Lake, one of the largest reservoirs in the state. Slightly
smaller Kanopolis Lake is about the same distance away.
Swimming

The city's outdoor pool was completely remodeled and renovated in
1996. Located in Bicentennial Park, it is easily found on the
city's west side just south of highways U.S. 281 & K-4. The
pool is open from Memorial Day weekend through the end of
September. Handicap Accessible.
Tennis
Tennis Complex

Hoisington truly is a town where tennis is king. The newest
complex of four courts is located next to the swimming pool in
Bicentennial Park. It features the newest in court design and
construction. Hoisington High School tennis teams compete here
along with summer leagues which are open to all. The city's other
two smaller neighborhood parks also have older, concrete tennis
courts. All courts are lighted. Handicap accessible.
Walking & Running

Bicentennial Park · West 7th and Monroe
Bicentennial Park features a 1 mile concrete 8' wide trail which winds
around the Bicentennial Park, over a bridge and among trees. The
rubberized track at the Hoisington High School is also available for
public use. Handicap accessible.
