Vision Statement:
The Linwood Community Library will serve as the center of
community resources and information.
Mission:
The collection, programs, and services provided by the
Linwood Community Library will reflect the lifelong learning needs of its
patrons and respond to their informational, cultural and recreational
interests.
GOAL 1:
PHYSICAL
GROWTH

library expansion with board, patron surveys and Friends Group

Form a focus
group specific to library growth

Build funds
to accommodate growth:
- Apply for 501(c) (3) Tax Exempt Status
- Utilize local civic groups in efforts to develop
funds (Masons, Lions, Friends, etc.)
- Contact legal advisors re: increasing district
boundaries or possibly operating 2 districts from one location
- Investigate grant opportunities
- Establish and publicize building fund
- Make an offer to buy building
- Consider swapping areas with the “Community
Building” including some remodeling
- Ask for more space from the “Community Building”
area

BETTER
INFORM THE COMMUNITY ABOUT OUR LIBRARY

Evaluate the
presentation of information presented to the community (i.e.: website,
brochures, newsletters, etc.)

Newsletter:

Send more frequent newsletters if feasible (monthly)
- Send more frequent newsletters if feasible (monthly)
- Include a link on the website to a full copy of the
newsletter
- Evaluate our phone service for the beneficial prefix (723, 301, and
800)
- Create a logo to create a “brand” image specific to our library and
all written communication will include it
- “Advertise” the library:
1.
Contact realtors and provide them with a brochure
2.
Possibly post a bulletin board at the café
3.
Notify local newspapers and newsletters of library events, perhaps
occasionally use a paid advertisement
4.
Check into legality of having a flyer at the voting locations
during elections
5.
Investigate using the company “Postcard Mania” to send out post
paid postcard surveys
6.
Include “Buds Corner” when posting library activities

Keep the website current and informative; perhaps update its
look to appeal to more people

Improve relationship with school(s) so that we can send
information via the school to students and their parents about library
activities (include Basehor/Linwood Sixth Grade Center, Glenwood Ridge
Elementary and Basehor/Linwood High School)
CONTINUING STRATEGIES

Provide welcome pamphlet with current info to new patrons
and community members

Coordinate programs/events directed at teen groups, young
adults and all adults
·
Continue to expand the Summer Reading Program
·
Continuous improvement of all library collections
·
Support and encourage growth of the Library Friends Group
·
Maintain and update an active report for strategic planning
(review and update annually)
