Help! We are looking for a map formally owned by Mrs. Eugene Taylor published by The Osage County Sentinel (operated in Lyndon) printed about 1870 and 1873 in celebration of the Centenial. If you know anything about this map, please contact us!
The Society is housed at the Lyndon Carnegie Library and has many materials available for research such as obituaries, county census records, and old newspapers. Court records can also be researched such as marriage records and land patents. Trips to the State Historical Society are also frequently made and research can be done there. Extended research monies raised will go towards additional research materials.
Researchers for the Society are Mrs. Joyce Caudle Hensen and Sarah Walker-Hitt. Joyce is the past County Archivist and Vice-President for the Historical Society. Sarah has researched County history for over 17 years and is past secretary of the Historical Society. Both Joyce and Sarah are current members of the Lyndon Historical Preservation Committee.
The Society meets the second Thursday of each month at 1:30 pm and everyone is invited to attend. We meet either at the Lyndon Carnegie Library, or ocassionally, at the Kansas History Center in Topeka. We advise you to write or call ahead of time to make sure there hasn't been a change.
