Library Services
Public Copier
A public copier is available at .10 per copy or .15 on two sides. It can be used as a self-service machine or the librarian will assist. The copier will reduce or enlarge materials or copy onto 11"x17" paper (.20).
Public Fax Machine
This fax machine is your fax machine. The number is 785-828-4565. The cost to send a page is $1.00, .50 for a second; to receive pages costs nothing. If you need to get information there in a hurry and have a fax number to send something to, we'll be glad to help you. We'll also keep a file with your name on it, if you wish materials to be faxed to you at the Library on a regular basis.
Northeast Kansas Library System card
We issue library cards that are honored in Osage County libraries, Topeka, Lawrence, Ottawa and others in this Library System.
Inter-Library Loan Books
Specific titles, authors or subject requests may be made and books, or photocopies of materials will be mailed to our Library for your use at no cost to you.
Videos and Audio Books
The Lyndon Library has over 1000 videos in its collection for one-week's lending. Titles mainly include movie classics, children's, travel, how-to's, exercise, history and family films. Non-fiction titles may also be borrowed from Lawrence Library through inter-library loan.
Large-Print Books
The Library has a collection of large-print books, as well as being able to request them by title, author or subject through inter-library loan. NEKLS provides a rotating set which becomes our property after rotating. Information about the Talking Books for the sight-impaired may also be obtained, as well as the Audio Reader Program.
Tax Forms. Each year the Library has most of the federal and state forms you might need. We also have publications books to use at the Library. Some of the forms do have to be photocopied at regular copier costs.
Internet Access
We now have five public computers for patrons 16 and older to access the internet. Younger users must have a parent present. Word processing is also available on these computers. Black and White copies printed are 10 cents a page; color copies are 25 cents per page.
Bi-Folkal Kits
(Nothing to to with your glasses!) You may borrow, through our Library, kits from NEKLS to use as programs for groups or meetings. There are many topics with complete materials -- some have slides, videos, song sheets, games, props, with categories such as "Remembering State Fairs," or Remembering Fashions," etc. These are especially good for groups involving older citizens. There is no cost exept you are responsible for return postage of the box of the materials to Lawrence (at Library Rate or UPS).
Home-Bound Patron Services
We are always happy to bring books to any persons in town unable to come to the Library. Let us know possible needs. The Friends' group has helped with this in the past.
Display Case
The Library has a large, built-in glass case in the entry way. We are always seeking new ideas or things to display. If anyone has a collection they would like to lend for a month or so, please contact us. In the past, we have had elephants, old cans, teapots, valentines, art works, Barbie dolls, "McDonald's" prize/toys, "Gone With the Wind" items, angels, etc. We have children who regularly come in to see what's new there. They're disappointed if it's empty!
Audio Books
Our collection is growing rapidly including some titles for Junior High readers and young children. NEKLS provides a leased set of interchangeable audio tapes.
