December 20, 2006The Moran City Council met in special session on Wednesday, December 20, 2006. Mayor Phillip Merkel called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM. Councilmembers present were Mike Holman, Jerry Jackman, Warren Johnson, and Chryll Ginn. Also present was Lori Evans, City Clerk. Public Hearing to Amend 2006 Budget - Mayor Merkel opened the budget hearing and called for questions or comments regarding the proposed budget amendment. No questions or comments were raised. 2006 Budget Amendment - Councilmember Ginn moved to adopt the budget amendment as published. Johnson seconded the motion, motion passed with unanimous approval. Cereal Malt Beverage Application for Stub's Market – Councilmember Johnson moved to approve Stub’s Market corporate ceral malt beverage application. Jackman seconded the motion, motion passed with all approving. Waiving Council Pay for December 20, 2006, Meeting – Councilmember Ginn moved the Council waive pay for this special Council meeting. Jackman seconded the motion, motion passed with all approving. The Council requested this topic be added to the January 2007 agenda for review by the City Attorney. Discussing Consolidated Law Enforcement – Councilmembers Johnson and Jackman spoke with the Council after attending the December 12, 2006, meeting discussing a proposal to consolidate county wide law enforcement. Both Councilmembers Johnson and Jackman stated they did not believe the City of Moran would receive any benefit from consolidated law enforcement. The Council further discussed the topic and Councilmember Johnson suggested the City send a letter to Allen County advising the Commisioners that the Council does not feel that consolidating county law enforcement would provide additional advantage or benefits to residents of Moran. The Council agreed to send the Commisioners a letter as suggested by Councilmember Johnson. There being no further business to come before the Council, Councilmember Johnson moved the meeting adjourn at 8:22 PM. Ginn seconded the motion, motion passed with unanimous approval.
