The Moran City Council met in special session on Monday, February 25, 2008. Mayor Phillip Merkel called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Councilmembers present were Mike Holman, Jerry Jackman, James Mueller, Warren Johnson, and Chryll Ginn. Also present were Shawn Turner, TranSystems, Lori Evans, City Clerk and Mike Stodgell, City Superintendent. Rocky Porter, Bill McAdam, Tom McAdam, Donald Mann, Tom Adams, R.D. Breit, XX Matador Const. were visitors attending the meeting.

OPENING AND AWARDING BIDS
Shawn Turner opened the following bids for the Franklin Street 8” water main project:

Matador Construction, Lane, KS
Tom Adams Construction, Garnett, KS 162,204.00
Breit Construction, Raymore, MO 138,301.00
McAdam LLC, Moran, KS 283,305.83
Lathrop Excavating, Nevada, MO 173,085.25
Greeley Excavating, Greeley, KS 159,340.00
139,441.00

Shawn Turner announced Breit Construction was the low bidder for the project and announced the City will award the bid following review of references.

The Council asked Shawn what was the next step in the bidding process. Shawn said the Council must award the bid within 45 days of the bid opening. The contractor then has two weeks to provide the required bond information. Once construction begins the contractor will have 90 calendar days to complete the project. The City can extend this time if weather delays the project. The Council agreed to award bids at their regular meeting on March 3rd.

There being no further business to come before the Council, Councilmember Muller moved the meeting adjourn at 7:30 PM. With Ginn seconding the motion, the motion passed with unanimous approval.
