The Moran Thrive-Pride Group met on July 14, 2010 at the Moran Senior Center with the following people in attendance: Ann Houk, Warren Johnson, Larry Manes, Deb Tynon, Jerry Ward, and Kathy Ward.

With such a small number in attendance, no major decisions were made but several items and proposals were discussed.

Patty Boyd sent an update on Troxel Park plans and work. The City Crews have been busy working on the park. They have installed a water faucet to facilitate watering and begun working on the ground. Old soil, rock etc was removed along the front of the park in preparation for new soil and a concrete border. Patty provided a rough drawing of her plans for plants and flowers. Final results may not be visible until next summer but work towards beautification is happening. Our thanks to the City guys and Patty for their work.

Discussion of what to do for a Community social or gathering included an ice cream social with entertainment and visiting or something preceding a football game. We need to check the school calendar for home game nights and what others might have scheduled for those nights. We also discussed whether Moran Day would be a good time to do this. A decision will be made at the next meeting if we have enough supporting people.

Moran Day is September 18th. We need to check with Deb Jones, chairperson on what events are scheduled, any fees for participation, and then decide if our group wants to participate.

A fall community garage sale day was also discussed. The spring sale was a huge success and many of the participants have asked if we are going to do it again in the fall. A suggested day was October 9th. Deb Tynon volunteered to check into this. Again help will be needed.

The Library Board suggested that a welcoming group for new residents or families with new babies would be a good project for our group to establish. Discussion as to what to include and how to fund it was held. No decision was made at this time because we felt we needed more input from the Library Board.

We also discussed how to regenerate enthusiasm for our Thrive-Pride group. We hope the busy summer months have been the reason for the drop in attendance at our meetings. We discussed ways to generate more interest and participation in our group.

Our next meeting will be AUGUST 11th, 2010, 7:00 PM at the Moran Senior Citizen building. Please try to attend.
